Was at the game. They both had chances even strength and then early but didn't connect. It was the Colts 2nd (well 3rd, but playing second line minutes due to injuries) that connected on the first three goals. The Scheifele goal was a beautiful tick-tac-toe passing play... It was a huge game for this team. They needed that victory and the nice part was for the majority of the game it was a 2+ goal lead, so they could roll the lines and get the top line (and more importantly for the Colts the top D pairing - right now 16-year-old Aaron Ekblad is playing 30+ minutes a game against other teams top lines) some rest. So...Mark and Ivan had reduced minutes for most of the 2nd, which would have contributed to why they didn't have points until after the 3-2 goal made it close with 12 minutes to play.

Our prospects are doing well.....Telegin is in 8th and Mark is tied for 14th place in OHL playoff scoring and they are doing this while other top scorer's on their team are injurred and the other team can key on them.

Good to see!

Anyone here know a link or the rule for AHL playoffs regarding distance,I knew when the Leafs were here we played 2-3-2,and if we had a best of 5 we played 2-2-1.This year St.John's claims the AHL forced them to do 2-3,meaning they start on the road, cause if they never the other team would get home ice, claiming ahl rules stat any teams separated by more then 300 highway miles have to play 2-3.I feel something anit right, when Leafs were here it was 500 miles and we never had a 2-3.If thats the case Abbotford def will have a 2-3,well hoping someone here can find info, ive looked but was unlucky

Don't have a link to the rule itself, but it is apparently a playoff rule...

Quote:
The league says, that in first-round matchups where teams are more than 500 kilometres apart, series will involve a two-three split in games. The top-seeded team must choose between starting with two games at home and finishing the series on the road, or ó as St. Johnís has decided ó to begin with two games on the road and having the series conclude at home.

I know what the organization is saying but something tells me that their just trying to save face.If Abbotsford don't play 2-3 then it was infact bs

Nice. Poor man's Kovalchuk who can be on the #2 line and pot 20-30 goals? I'd take that along with his 6'4" frame.

Along with truly elite speed that is not only fast but quick. Plus he may turn into an outstanding penalty killer as well. Chevy was talking about him on his GM summit and you could tell on how he phrased comments that he feels they got a high end talent in Telegin.

Looking forward to Barrie's playoff run, important games for Telegin and Scheifele.

Great win by the Colts. I actually care more about their playoff run than I do the NHL playoffs.

Guys this is a very good read. For those that think a year in juniors is not valuable you just have to read this Article to see how Mark has been targeted and abused in the playoffs but he is battling through it and on a very injurred Colts team he is the "engine driving the offense"

Sounds like Mark has fought his way out of the mini slump after the world juniors and is back producing at the toughest most important time of the season and has the Colts on the cusp of advancing to the 3rd round of the playoffs (OHL semi finals)

Great article. Despite some of the criticism he has got from some quarters I really like what I've seen from Scheifele this season. It appears to me he has put a lot of effort developing into to an NHL player, not just a junior level point getter.

Scheifele could have spent the year cheating more on offense and finding ways to pad his stats or develop a responsibe two way game, with some real leadership qualities showing through. The former may look better from a far, but the later will help him get to the NHL and become part of our young core. I can hardly wait to see him in camp next year..

In watching the games on CI in Ontario this year, his concentration on defensive responsibility in his own end has been one of the biggest pluses for me. His skating has also gotten better - far from elite level, but getting stronger throughout the season.

It's very heartening to see how well he and Telegin play together, and to know that in 1-2 years, they'll be on the same roster again in Winnipeg.

Granted it was only 1 game, but in the game I watched, Scheifele was excellent in his own zone. He was repeatedly down behind his own goaline helping out the D, and I never saw him lose his man in front of the net. I think the Barrie coaching staff has had him work on his 2 way game this year.

Yea sometimes we forget that he was still an 18 year old last month and he is playing big kids some who are 20 years old and targeting him. The game I watched he was very strong defensively and really dangerous offensively.

from what I saw he is getting lots of minutes and they are tough playoff minutes.......great for his development.
