Some NYI fans, want Nino to spend the entire season in Bridgeport.

But, if he has a strong camp,I don't see how they demote him with the way he's been playing.

Talked to a scout yesterday who described his AHL play as 'dynamic'. RT @SinedHockey: @coreypronman Thought on Niederreiter?

I hope he gets a spot on the Isles if he earns it. God knows we could use some more goal scoring.

Now tied for 3rd in the AHL in points...only behind Eberle and Schultz.

Looks like Snow agrees with you.

I expected Donovan and both rookie forwards, Nino and Nelson, to get camp invites. None are going to camp.

I do like Nino's response, to what has to be a disappointment: 2 goals tonight.

Snow on Niederreiter: "It's an opportunity for him to get quality minutes (in BPT). It's more conducive for him to be there at this point."

Snow gives a more indepth reason, for his decision not to invite Nino to camp.

http://mobile.newsday.com/inf/infomo...4443120&part=1
Nino Niederreiter had seemed to earn a shot at making the Isles for this 48-game season, and the 2010 No. 5 pick scored two more goals for Bridgeport Sunday afternoon, giving him a team-high 19 for the Sound Tigers in 37 games. But Snow opted to bring forwards Casey Cizikas, Colin McDonald and David Ullstrom up for the big club's camp. "It's an opportunity for him to continue playing different roles -- power play, PK, playing 20-plus minutes a night," Snow said. "It's more conducive for him to be there at this point in time."

I think it's a great decision. Let him continue playing this many minutes at this high a level for the rest of the season.

Agreed, let him develop in AHL this season and bring him up next year. Isles aren't winning next season so no need to rush things...

I'm honestly shocked that last season didn't mess him up at all.

I think it's a combo of two different things:

1) Nino wasn't as bad as people made him out to be. They look at the point totals and say: BUST. Nino actually looked pretty good to start the year, but then had the concussion and was thrown right back into a 4th line role. That's an extremely difficult situation for a 19 year old kid. He never really had a chance to succeed.

2) Nino has and seems to have always had a ton of character. IMO this was the biggest reason why Snow and Co. drafted him. I'm sure a lot of kids his age hearing that kind of negativity would have went into a downward spiral, but Nino seems motivated to prove people wrong. IMO, he wants to be a great NHLer, and I don't doubt for a second that he will be(especially if he ever gets that chance with Tavares that most fans think he eventually will).

Personally I never understood why they just didn't though him on a line with Bailey and Nielsen with like 10 games left in the season, they had nothing to lose.

Yeah, seemed pointless to never put him in a top-6 role.

When the Isles were playing the Pens near the end of the season and Nino was a healthy scratch, I lost what little respect I'd had for Cappy.

Getting a meaningless win was a higher priority, then trying to give Nino something positive to build off of.
