At the Oil Kings game tonight, they were giving out a mini prospects guide book. I'm going to admit that I didn't want Dumba but now I wouldn't mind taking him. A big-hitter (will surely defend his teammates) and good offensively--that I've heard before--but he also loves the game, is enthusiastic, a hard-worker, and has a positive attitude. Sounds like a win in the locker-room and the ice.

Honestly wouldn't mind if we traded down and grabbed Reinhart either. He's big, physical, pretty good with positioning, wins battles along the boards, and not only will he join the rush, he creates them as well.

I would still love to have Grigorenko or any other centre for that matter. Yes the Oilers need defence right now but I don't think an 18/19 year old is the answer. Like others have said, we have good D prospects..they just take time to mature. Idealy I'd like to see us sign a top 4 D in the summer and draft a forward this year considering we basically only have one line able to score. I don't envy Stu's position right now. I reaaaaaaaaallly wonder who he's leaning towards though. Injuries to so many prospects are really making this year's draft interesting. I feel like some of the teams with lower picks are going to get gems. I may cry if Edmonton wins the lottery.

Wouldnt trading down to 7-10 make the most sence? Get one of Reinhart or Trouba + another 1st and assets
Would Thomas Vanek interest the Oilers?

Or 12th 22nd ++ for 2nd?

Just kicking tires to see what the Oilers fans are thinking

Problem is the guy in the 7-10 spot probably won't be ready for the NHL for a couple of seasons. This team needs help now.

After putting up with another season of fail, Oiler fans would probably start a full on lynch mob if management traded our pick away.

In my opinion they don't pass up on the chance to get an elite Dman/Centre

I'll wait to judge the whole body of work, but current body of work is unimpressive. Of Grigorenko's 8 points:

2 are goals. 1 is a PPG, 1 is ES
1 is a primary assist on the PP
1 is a secondary assist on the PP
3 are secondary assists on the PP
1 is a secondary assist at ES

6/8 points of his current offense is PP-borne. 5/8 points are secondary assists.

ya not impressed...I get the feeling Grigorenko just doesn't have the chops

he reads Viktor Kozlov to me...decent player but not "franchise" player
Murray may be the way to go

In any decent draft year theres no way Grigorenko would be #2.

What I see an awful lot of in this player is somebody that can get results playing against inferior players and Junior coverage.

I doubt he got much game for the NHL.

Beliveau, lol, anybody making that comparison never saw Beliveau play in Quebec city, or Montreal.

This guy reminds me of Jiri Dopita.

I don't care about Button or his lists.. ISS, RLR. or whatever. This was my opinion. I'm no scout. I'm just a poster on HF. Just like you.. Not like I dont go around telling people Dumba is better than Murray because Button says so. Or some dude on tv told me that Girgorenko was lazy and should be 25th overall.

And for what it's worth, You can hate on Button all you want. I know he's a clown. He's always causing a stir because of his off the board rankings. But even this clown was 5 for the first 5 last season in the 2011 draft.

I'm not sure I give a **** any more...I really don't. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, all I see is wasted years of the 3 kids until they demand to be traded...and at this juncture, I'm not sure I blame them.

Yay we get to ruin another would-be star's career before it gets started.

No wonder everyone likes Edmonton.

I think we need to push to get this Justin Schultz kid here. And Tambo needs to work the phones to see what d-man a package of Gagner + could get us.

Then we need to interview everyone and really scout the crap out of their tapes objectively and throughly.

We should not force ourselves to draft someone out of need.

Draft simulator is back - http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=626580

Odds of the oilers not dropping below 2nd overall is 60.8 percent

I ran it ten times and sure enough, we won it once and did not drop 5 times. Simple odds but fun.

Damn

And here I thought Eberle, Hall and RNH were looking good. It's unfortunate to hear their careers have been ruined already.

Draft BPA! Grigorenko dominated the junior worlds, going to be a player.
Ship Gagner and continue the rebuild, after next season we buy out horcoff.
