How far will we go?

I remember back in 2007, right after we got Comrie from phoenix, someone made a post about how they didn't want to play the pens in the first round, because of crosby and malkin, etc.

Someone else proceeded to say that, in order to be the best, we had to beat the best, and we did! (that year, anyway).

I think we have something pretty special going for us this season, especially with the turris trade (from phoenix, again!) rejuvenating this team, and I think if we get by boston, we might be able to go all the way.

What do you guys think?

I said that if we made the PO's we would win the cup. I stand by what I said.

(I also said, perhaps not here, that Karlsson would be PPG this yer)

Well IMO there's two situations. The team decides to show up and outplay the bruins in every aspect, but we will get beat up and MAY win the series but will not get passed the second round.

OR

We will show mediocre performances and MAYBE win two games against boston but ultimately will lose the series.

We didn't beat the best in 2007 obviously.

As for this year...IF we somehow get through Boston, we're likely to play NY which I'm not as scared of as I would be playing Pittsburgh/Philly in the ECF.

However I predict we take Boston to 6 games before we're out of the playoffs.

I think it's possible we beat the Bruins and go on to win the 2nd round, but I don't see us making it into the cup finals.

In the first round:
4 games .. I mad.
5 games .. we tried.
6 games .. not bad, good effort.
7 games .. fffuuu, so close. Great effort.

Anything past the first round is gravy and I'll be extremely happy.

I'm expecting a moral victory against Boston where we lose a hard fought series in 6-7 games.

I expect the Sens to try their best. They still might get swept, but I don't want to expect anything more than a good effort.

Who knows? They have beaten Boston this year, and they have beaten the Rags. But that was the regular season.

Boston relies on pushing people around and Tim Thomas. They can't push us around as much as they can other teams, and Thomas, as good as he is, is fallible from time to time. If we beat Boston and face New York I think we might go the Conference Finals and lose to Pittsburgh. I think anyone who wants to go to the cup will have to go through Pitt to get there.

However, as much as I say "I am just happy we're in the playoffs" I'll have that play off knot in my stomach and I'll be hoping against hope we win every game.

I suspect we will enjoy it, no disrespect but Ottawa is pretty well the best matchup Boston could of asked for, so please stay in that 7th spot.

Boston & Tim Thomas especially have had our number for a while now. If we somehow manage to take them out and get the monkey off our backs, it could have the makings of a cinderella run.

Basically this, except replace "first round" with "regular season."

Good, I hope your whole team feels the same way as you do and underestimates the Senators.

You may have won games against us this year but some of those games Ottawa controlled and shot themselves in the foot with badly timed mistakes by our youth and a fluke goal from center ice.

The playoffs are a different animal. I wouldn't be punching any tickets to the next round if I was a B's fan. Your team has been incredibly streaky this year.
