Islanders - Maple Leafs

To New York Islanders:

Cody Franson

To Toronto Maple Leafs:

Brock Nelson or Anders Lee + Marc Cantin

Islanders get a #4/5 defenseman with good potential.

Leafs get a big center to add depth at the center position in the prospect pool.

The Islanders sorely lack big forwards and Nelson and Lee are the only 2 we have in our system. I take my chances one of the 2 pans out(although in the case of Lee he might pull a Schultz on us next year) over trading for a bottom pairing guy.

I'd do it for Brock Nelson! Islanders may also find it fair...who knows, don't know much about the kid to be honest. 6'3 205 lbs at center who is American...has Burke written all of it haha

I am not trading Nelson. Anders Lee i could care less but not Nelson. I wthink Brock can be a second line center once he develops

Isles moved up to take Brock Nelson in the 1st round. He's having a great sophmore season, ranked their 3rd best prospect by THN this yr.

I think it was either Botta or Staples who tweeted a few days ago, that the isles are hoping Nelson signs his ELC,leaving college for Bridgeport. I am gonna guess Snow says no thanks to a Nelson fo Franson deal

Agreed. That being said, I would have no problem dealing Lee + Cantin for Franson. I like Lee, but he is far from a sure thing. Franson is a big dman with some skill who would make the team better now and in the future.

Nelson is a talented big forward, why would the Islanders even think about moving him for a bottom pairing defenseman?

because a leafs fan wants them too. dont you know the rules around here man?

HF rule number 1......if it makes sence to a leafs fan, it should be done with no hesitation......even if it screws the other team.

and thats about the only rule........

I'd do Lee + Cantin for Franson. Good proposal.

What would we add to Franson for Nelson?

Make an offer,sending a quality,young,top 4 blueliner to LI.

No interest in having Franson, as the key return for a Brock Nelson trade.

Cody Franson for Casey Cizikas.

One for one.

Bring a Toronto boy home who could be a feisty third liner someday.

The rookie Cizikas is already a fiesty 3rd liner,on LI.

He and Ullstrom have added some energy and grit, after injuries and the Rolston trade.

I'd rather have Cizikas on the 3rd line, then Franson on the 3rd pairing.

Im high on Lee and the kid took over Isles mini camp last year but I feel he wont sign with us........TOR would probably have a good shot at signing him.

No. Cizikas is a young Frans Neilson

Franson's not worth more than a late second/early third so now way I'd trade Lee or Nelson for him. Cantin worthless in any case.

No way would I trade Nelson. Lee either for that matter, I'm more high on him than other Islander fans I think. If you change Nelson or Lee to a 2nd round pick I'd do it no problem.

Theres no incentive for the leafs to trade Franson if all were getting is a 2nd round pick, thats what tampa offered earlier this season when Franson was struggling and the leafs decline. Franson has also been the leafs's best D man during the losing strech before Wilson got fired, so its kind of mid blowing why he got scratch for Mike Komisarek when Carlyle arrived.

I'd consider it. It's always nice to have two high 2nd at the draft.

Yeah Cantin and a 2nd for Franson is fine with me.

Streit-Franson
MacDonald-Hamonic
Donovan/Ness-UFA

I'm okay with that.

That's a decent offer but considering the Isles pick pick will be a high 2nd I'd be a little hesitant.
