Strudwick...interesting player. Wasn't very good, but man did he bleed for his teammates.
He was a serviceable extra defenseman. I seem to remember him even looking pretty impressive in a fight against Orr, not to long before we claimed Orr on waivers.
Come to think of it...Bickel has some Strudwick in him.
Average at best player, but will go through a brick wall for his teammates.
Bickel is a much better skater and a significantly better defenseman.
But there are some serious similarities.
Struds wasn't exploited for his lack of speed because any line but the Jagr one only played defense for those Ranger teams anyways. And it was always Rozy and Malik with the Jags line.
I wasn't alive to see the '94 team nor have I seen a team play like this team yet. I never loved a team like I do with the Rangers, it's really a honor to be a Ranger fan and watching the Rangers play every night. What I love about the Rangers is we don't have to most skilled team, we play with grit and they pour heart's out every single god dam night to get the W. I love this team.

Time will tell. Bickel also has the benefit of playing with on a better team, especially defensively. Flaws and all, Strudwick did play more than 600 NHL games.

Its kinda funny, we were talking about Rosival. I honestly wouldn't mind him back anchoring our bottom pair. Funny how these things play out.
Does anybody have the post game comments by Brian Boyle on youtube? It was pretty fantastic.
Didn't catch it, what did he say? MSG didn't include him in their post game video online.
EDIT: Can't find video but found the quote:

We all try and follow suit and stand in line and play that way. Its a pretty selfless team and it’s a lot of fun to be part of. The guys in this room, the fans, the city we are in, it’s pretty surreal sometimes. I gotta pinch myself. We are fortunate to be here.

Nice. Beat Bruins on Sunday and the only way Pens take over #1 seed is if they win all 4 of their remaining games and we lose all of our games in regulation. Feels good.
It's funny because half of the people on here wanted Boyle gone couple months ago.
I am still not super happy with him as our third line center. I am going to hope he can translate some of his recent success into the playoffs(I think if he gets used as a mirror line against elite teams he might get exposed-his skating is still an issue). But I am still skeptical.
Remember, he had a real strong game in Carolina. He then proceeded to have really bad stretch of games. He has found his game recently, I am hoping he proves me wrong.
he collided with Pacioretty (if I'm not mistaken) near center ice and fell awkwardly with Max ending up on top of him as they both slid down the ice. Looked like he might have banged his hand or wrist.
