NFL: Ryan Leaf arrested twice in four days, charges include burglary

Apparently his criminal resume isn't complete enough. He wants to make sure he is a total criminal in addition to being one of the all-time epic busts in the world of sports.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- Authorities say former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been arrested in his Montana hometown on burglary and drug possession charges.

Great Falls Police Sgt. Dean Bennett says Leaf was arrested Friday afternoon.

The circumstances surrounding Leaf's arrest are not immediately clear. Bennett says he hasn't seen a report detailing the allegations.

Cascade County Detention Center Officer Robert Rivera says Leaf was booked on charges of burglary of a residence, theft and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Leaf was freed on $76,000 bond and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday.

The former San Diego Chargers first-round pick has had several past run-ins with the law. In 2010, he pleaded guilty in Amarillo, Texas, to various drug charges and was sentenced to 10 years' probation and fined $20,000.

Obviously he needs help, could be pain issues because of the cancer, could be the brain tumor messed his mind up more.

Gary Carter had brain cancer and he didn't go around commiting crimes as a result. I don't wish death upon Ryan Leaf as he didn't commit 1st degree murder but he deserves to be punished if he is convicted.

The guy is an addict, and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with what happened to him as a player 15 years ago.

The guy made mistakes as a young 20 something year old kid with more pressure on him than most of us will probably ever feel. He handled it poorly, but that doesnt make him a bad person. Getting arrested twice in four days defies logic, a pretty common occurrence with addicts. The guy needs help.

The Guy is Ryan Leaf by the way, must be a middle name.
