Other than that nice save on King, Backstrom looks a little uncomfortable out there.

Hopefully, Kings can take advantage of it in the last two periods.

Well the Kings withered the storm, and tied the game up.

Have to give them credit for that. The Wild came to play today.

Survived the 1st and tied it up. Looks like the redbull finally kicked in halfway through the first

Considering how the first 10 or 12 minutes went, very lucky to be even.

Call me crazy, but I want Scuderi on the power play unit.

Getting it in deep is always the correct play no matter who you are. DD blindly passes accross the ice which is why there is so many odd man rushes going the other way. It's because Drew passes it to nobody or it hits the defenders skates or stick. He blindly passes it then rushes to the net. How many times have we commented on him trying to pass through 2 or 3 defenders? Nobody is talking about breakout passes. We're talking in the zone.

Its weird, every since he got shifted, he seems to be making the same mistakes DD (and to some degree JJ) use to make on the first unit. Puck seems to hopped over his stick a few times the last couple games, shooting into legs or over goalies, and stickhandling until he gets "trapped".

He seemed so much more fluid when he was out with AMart imo.

Thought the Kings did well to get out of that period tied.

Tough travel and clawed their way back that period.

This I agree with. Drew and JJ are victims of getting keyed on because they are the main part of the Kings PP. Voynov is bound to draw that attention and he's starting to get it.

The two Minnesota goals are the types that can be corrected. The first was a breakdown in the defensive zone with the Kings failing to cover the redirected shot by Powe in front of Bernier. The second was a turnover in the neutral zone, but what caused more of a problem was Greene colliding with his own goalie.

Play tight and shut it down the rest of the game like they did for the second half of the first. They need to spend as much time as possible in Minnesota's end and not start chasing around the Wild, especially since the Kings are an exhausted group who needs all the rest they can get before Monday's game. This schedule has been brutal with three games in four nights.

The "D" pair out there with the top unit the last several games has been Richards and Voynov. Doughty hasn't been anywhere near the top unit the past few games.

Maybe in the 90's....but sorry the game has changed Terry. In the NHL now you need to hit the blueline with speed. Simply dumping the puck in deep and having your team chance is a recipe for failure. The way you do this is to have the puck go from your defensemen (from around the endzone faceoff circles) to your forwards (who are around center ice). This speed is needed to break down systems which are now dependent on defensemen sitting really far back flat footed (ie Greene getting burned by Zucker earlier).

thats what i originally thought, but then i remembered Doughty scored yesterday with the rest of the top unit on the ice, so i guess they are alternating
