Considering he's 6'1 and will probably play in the NHL over 190lbs, he won't be the 'little devil' on the ice people are hoping/predicting, but he will cause a lot of commotion regardless.

Skill set will make him a very good 3rd liner. Think Cal Clutterbuck.
Unlikely you'll see him for anything more then a few games with the leafs next year.

Really? his career just took a giant leap forward...he's not expected to be a scoring machine at the NHL level, but you have to think he's going to be fun to watch on a line with Frattin and maybe Kadri in a couple years. He's going to make people miserable, in a very excellent way. It may actually be fun again one day soon to watch the Leafs play a hockey game. Man, I miss watching Tucker drive somebody nuts one shift, then park it right in front of the paint the next, where he'd tap in a loose puck. We need an emotional leader like that again...

6'1" is bigger than what Ive read from every source I have seen. Love the Clutterbuck reference...

Ulmer said that Gardiner was a generational talent earlier. I don't think he can be taken that seriously in respect to giving an unbiased projection of the likely career of a prospect

He should definitely spend a season in the AHL, maybe see a call-up or two to the NHL. Then he may be able to slot in our roster for 2013-2014. He could probably step in and play next season, but that could do more harm than good.

I have watched Ross player a fair amount in the last 4 years.

He should have made the Canadian Jr Team and this is an opinion that was shared by many. He is very comparable to Tucker in the way that he plays the game. With Carlyle as the coach for next year, there should be more then a few roster open and Ross will be in the mix.

He will most likely play in the AHL and should earn a call up at some point the next year. He does not look small on the ice but can use some more muscle as is the case with any younger player.

The part that may allow him play before other players in the NHL is the way he plays the game. He is good away from the puck and his compete level is through the roof. He is also a lot better offensively that many have giving him credit for. I say his upside offensively is high.

Nice to get some input from someone who has followed his development. Its the courage and compete level that is most contagious with any team. Only a few can break a game wide open with offensive skills, but a well placed big hit or the constant pressure a guy like this can put on the opposition can dictate momentum; something this current group has not been able to do. I think he can make his line mates play with a little more swagger as well. Very excited about his potential.

in terms of making the big club he does have an easier road than a guy like kadri or colborne because it's not wrong for him to make it on the 3rd/4th lines. Not saying he will or not, but that does squeak the door open a tad.

Tucker was a great junior player but it's been said a hundred times, he really had to change his game in order to stay in the NHL. Lets keep in mind here, Ross isn't being compared to Tucker for his offensive numbers, he's being compared to him because he's a pest that drives teams nuts. Think of a guy like Marchand. You don't think of his offensive capabilities, you think of him driving the Canucks crazy, punching Sedin a few times, a few borderline hits etc. We need a guy who plays with an edge. At the moment the closest thing we have is Brown.

Biggs, Ross..... can't wait until these two are in the Blue and White. Really hope they both pan out, because they will be the heart of the future leafs.

I can't wait til Ross, Biggs, Ashton and Frattin are fully developed and contributing to this team at high levels. It'll be nice to have that injection of size and grit along with skill.

Then, have Holzer, Blacker and maybe Granberg on the back end, you have one hell of a tough team right there.

To really be encouraged, I'd love it if he was a Cal Clutterbuck clone with a little bit of Gary Roberts.

Throws big hits, gets into the dirty areas, incites the opposition, and scores the garbage goals in the blue paint.... THAT would be worth Jimmy Hayes.

New Flash. Go check out Youtube. Ross loses every fight he is in. He shows up but he gets killed. Tucker could at least win the middle weight fights. Ross is no tucker either fighting or scoring. He is just a dirty cheap shot player....hits guys at full speed who are not even near the puck. I think he is the old Matt Cooke and he will need to change if he wants to play in the league
