I'm amazed at how tight the race for the playoffs has remained. Normally one team collapses by now.

It's gone from being one of the toughest divisions in hockey because of all the talented, successful teams to being one of the toughest divisions in hockey because none of the teams can stop sucking long enough to take the candy from the other four babies.

No real good teams, but no bad ones either. 4 of the 5 teams are 88 points or higher and the Ducks are the best last place team in the league. It's the 3rd best division behind the Atlantic and Central.

My post was an attempt to be amusing--however unsuccessful and ill-advised, in retrospect--and in fact I don't think the Pacific gets enough credit. My point was only that none of the top teams have managed to be consistently good enough to run away with it. Los Angeles and San Jose were expected to be better this year, while Phoenix has overachieved (again). Nobody has been really dominant.

I doubt strongly Pyatt takes Chippy's spot........Chippy is the heart of the 4th line and we need him. Pyatt is a 6-3/230 lb Lady Byng candidate.
