Schultz could just sign with Edmonton straight up.

If they tell him he's going to get 1st unit PP time and a lot of minutes and he looks at the forwards he'd get a chance to play with ...

He already lists Edmonton as his favorite city (lol go figure).

The player the Oilers honestly would want from the Ducks would be Getzlaf. I know Ducks fans may balk, but y'know that's the type of player it would take IMO to get real serious consideration.

suuuuurrrrre....

Grade 1,2, and 3 concussions..

I'm giving him a BIG benefit of the doubt it wasnt a grade 3 concussion..... despite my instincts to observe otherwise...

I'm not gonna get into semantics... but it was a severe concussion no matter how you cut it...

And what he's able to shake off a week or so later is hardly concrete info.., at the end of the day, he was shut down.
But if if makes ya feel better............................................ .........................

Oilers should really consider trading the 1st overall pick for some immediate help.

How about dealing that pick to Pittsburgh for a package like Jordan Staal, Brooks Orpik and possibly a pick or prospect?

Or dealing him to Washington for John Carlson, Brooks Laich and Washington 1st Rd. pick from Colorado?

You have to actually observe the victim in the case of concussions in order to determine grade of severity. You can posture like Hall did in the video without having a severe concussion. You are diagnosing Hall's grade of concussion based on a video clip yet you accuse another poster of not having concrete info. Your instincts are hardly a reliable tool for diagnosing concussion grade based on a video clip.

Edmonton should trade that pick for a great young defenseman. They won't be able to afford Yakupov, Nuge and Hall in 5 years if they all reach their potential.

Anaheim is in a really good spot to get Galchenyuk, who could become the best player in the draft and fill their biggest need right away. #2 center.

Tambellini had a **** eating grin on his face looking at Howson when Edmonton was picked. What a *****.

Fair enough (sort of)... My instinicts were based on being trained heavily on the neurological system.. (chiropractor...)

{insert chiropractic joke here}

Undergrad in Kinesiology... including mechanism of sport injuries..

NOT saying i'm an expert.. but well informed on the topic...

It was definitely a serious concussion, but the witness' 'take' that he was ok a week later is still imo a weak supporting source of concrete proof of it being a 'nothing' incident...

Doen't fly imo.

Wait, for the 1st overall? There is just no way. The difference between Yakupov and whomever Anaheim might end up picking is not Getzlaf. Yakupov himself might not even be Getzlaf. Even straight up, I don't see any way Anaheim would move Getzlaf to acquire that pick. You're not going to get a player like that in return.

Lets keep in mind that most defensive defenceman are not good at only 22 years of age and he will only get better with time. For me Schenn + 5th pick + 2nd round pick is the best we will offer for 1st overall, not that we need yakupov anyways

P.S. Gardiner is untouchable
Yes, he is... but he's regressed too much over the past season for Edmonton to have any reason to gamble on him... you don't trade a first overall pick for guy you're gambling will bounce back.

And "Gardiner is untouchable" is probably why there won't even be media speculation of Edmonton having any interest in trading their first overall pick to Totonto.

Montreal misses the playoffs for 2+ more years.
Phoenix averages attendance of < 1,000 people next year.
Columbus... see Phoenix.

What about any 2 of Huberdeau, Gudbranson, or Markstrom for our 1st+? I doubt Florida does it but that's what I think it'll take to get yakupov

Even if Columbus agreed, I have doubts Nash would.

This is exactly why the Oilers need to grow their own stars in-house. And if Eberle/Hall outperform Nash what kind of salary will they ask for? Nash already gets 7.8 mill, lol.

It will be very hard for the oilers to give up a shot at Yakupov IMO. I think Tambi is going to be trying to put together packages involving Hemsky, Paajarvi, Gagner, 31st overall, prospects (Hamilton/Pitlick/Marincin/Gernat/Musil) to get another high first round pick.

Hall - RNH - Yakupov
Harti/MPS - Gagner - Eberle
Smyth - Horcoff/Lander - Hemsky

Jesus thats a dangerous top six with the very capable Hemsky and Smyth on the third line.....

Phoenix gets: 1st overall.

Oilers get: Gormley, Boedker, Schlemko/Murphy, 2012 1st?

I'm new to this, so feel free to critique. As a Coyotes fan I wouldn't be happy with it(I've been obsessed with Gorm this year, would hate to see him go before he even made it to the team), but there's no question we could use some scoring forwards...

Change Gormley, Boedker, and Schemko/Murphy to OEL and you have a deal.

Since when is an 18 year old #1 or #2 pick winger [who has yet to even play an NHL game] worth an elite NHL center? Seriously?

I know it would be a decent amount to get the #1 pick, but Getzlaf? Yeah right

if i'm edmonton, i like this deal best. you get Murray, whom they need more so than Yakupov, plus the ability to swap for the next two years.

Honestly I have serious doubts Murray would help the Oilers more in the next 2 years than Yakupov would.

The Oilers need a veteran d-man to fill out their top 4, I think to bank on a Ryan Murray making a big difference anytime soon would be foolish.

The way I look at it, NYI will be a lottery pick team in 2013 and the Oilers would have a shot at Nathan MacKinnon. NYI would get that scoring winger for John Taveres and would get a player to draw the fans back and might get them that new arena. Its a crap shoot for EDM with a possible great gain. What I understand the Oilers are more interested in Griffin Reinhart then Murray, he's more of a fit of what the Oilers need then Murray.

FOR THE LOVE OF G-D AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, STOP. ASKING. FOR. JOHANSEN.

Has anyone else noticed that CBJ fans aren't making proposals here anymore? We get it. We won't have Yakupov. We're bitter but we'll move on. This mishegaas just rubs salt in the wound. Quit it already.
