Thank god. This team needs someone with heart like Tucker.

Ross and Biggs are something to look forward to in terms of bringing some punch to the Leafs lineup.

He is exactly what this team needs. I would not be surprised if he makes the team right out of junior just because of the tenacity he brings. He is a future mainstay on our 3rd line for sure.

Don't bother reading Ulmer, he doesn't do his own research and more than likely got that comparison after reading a thread here on HF. If this story came from an established member of the media with a respected hockey opinion, then fine. But Ulmer? No way.

this is the type of statement that brings unrealistic expectations.

it would be a pleasant surprise if he made the team next season, but it would be just that...a huge surprise. its not impossible, nobody should be expecting it.

tucker had 93 points in his rookie ahl season. lets see how ross does next year.

You might want to try reading the write up because it's mostly Ross' coach being quoted.

How is it unrealistic expectations? I said he could make the team because of his tenacity alone. Clearly that is his playstle.

Points aside we need Ross for other attributes. The team lacks grit in case you havent noticed.

How games has he played in the NHL that we can such comparisons with any kind of confidence? Oh, none? Why stop at Tucker, maybe he's the next Cam Neely?

I've had this conversation with a few people. I think Ross is the type of player that can step right in out of junior. He isn't going to be a high offensive point guy, but he'll chip in, while also grinding it out and being a bit of a pest.

Now, he still would have to have a great camp to even get a shot. Regardless, he's progressed well, and hopefully he continues to.

Really hoping this guy pans out. I don't even want a Tucker clone, just someone who won't take losing lying down. "you may win tonight, but your not going to want to come into my arena again."

its unrealistic because there's a very good chance the kid simply isn't a good enough hockey player to play in the nhl just yet.

Unbelieveable. People are already calling for this kid to make the team next year. PATIENCE, PEOPLE! I know it's been 9 years since playoffs but for god sakes, let's allow these prospects to develop properly instead of pushing them into the spotlight right out of junior. Ross is most likely at LEAST 2 seasons away. Can we stop expecting these kids to step right into the lineup after reading one article that compares him to a former beloved player?

No wonder people think this is the lowest this team has been. Unrealistic expectations that no player can possibly live up to.

Oy, posts like these is why I think Leaf fans get so disappointed so quick with out prospects and players.

How do you know it's going to get a whole lot better when guys like Ross start playing? He was a 2nd rounder. I'm not saying he's not going to be an effective player on our team but I doubt he has any sort of immediate impact on the team when he first starts playing.

I think he means down the line when he establishes himself. There's no doubt Ross has the intangibles that this team needs to get better. He's a pest, he hits and he has pretty good hands for his skillset.

The problem is that kids get run out of town before they have a chance to establish themselves, that's the problem. Leaf fans (no thanks to the Toronto media) think they'll have an immediate impact, have no patience, and want to ship the kids out if they're not all-stars in their 2nd or 3rd season.
