They can't all lose in the first round so what team(s) would you like to see make a deep run in the playoffs? For me it's the Predators, difficult team to hate. With Radulov they now have all the pieces to go all the way to the finals IMO, hopefully demolishing the Canucks at some point on the way. It would also be nice to see the Coyotes get in and past the first round, just to piss off all the haters if nothing else. In the east, Ottawa and Florida.
It's hard to imagine anyone stopping the Penguins ultimately however.
I'm gonna have to go with the Preds in the West and I'm not gonna hide the fact I'm a big Erik Karlsson fanboy so I'm going with the somewhat( ) unlikely Preds-Sens final.
Realistically I'd say we are looking at a VAN-PIT final this year though. STL has a good shot of making it as well, their system looks perfect for the playoffs imo.
In the West, anyone that beats the Canucks. In the East, I've always had a soft spot for the Sens, so I'd like to see them go a distance. I'd also liked to see Florida go far.
St. Louis & Philly. I've always liked St. Louis (because of MacInnis, Demitra, Pronger and Turgeon) and Philly because I just like watching them play hockey.
When Darryl Sutter took over as bench boss for the Kings, I had a feeling they'd make it into the post season and I've been cheering for them since. I've also been cheering on Phoenix. They're a very decent team that just can't seem to get enough local support, (though the local support they do have is awesome). Realistically though I don't think either team will make it past the second round, especially LA with their lack of scoring.
In the east, I've been cheering on the Rangers for the past couple of seasons. More so now since they've gotten rid of Avery. This year they look to be a really solid team and I foresee them making it to the finals. Pittsburgh should go deep too.
Of course, I'm definitely cheering anyone playing the Canucks.
Kings, because I love an underdog (in terms of their cup history), and they're a legitimately excellent team now. Also the Penguins due to Crosby and Malkin being amazing.
I have 2 teams... Flames are obviously my first team, but the Blues are my second due to living in St. Louis. I already have my playoff tickets for the Blues and hoping they can make it far in the playoffs.
Cheerin against the Nucks was only reason I watched 4 rounds last year. If they go out early I probably won't watch a whole lot other than catching 3rd periods and ot periods.
Like majority agree, anybody but the Canucks. IDK, playoffs are boring without the Flames, maybe I will cheer for the Sens if they get out of their division. If the Canucks somehow by miracle or by oodles of pp make it to the finals, then I will cheer for whoever is their opponent.
If the Canucks get physically dominated and emotionally embarrassed like they were last year by the manhandling by the big bad bruins, so much the sweeter. And while I like Kassian, fm his Sabre days (about the only canuck I like) Vancouver lack grit if Kassian should get hurt. They may amp up their diving to compensate.
Other teams I wish success are the Blues, Philly, Boston, and King too, alas they hired the Grinch who stole Flames futures with his shortsighted long term signings of perennial failures.
I am not cheering for the Kings now, I rather die.
Dont really care about the Rangers per se, they might do well with their phenom goalie, they got Brandon Prust too. If any Ex flame deserves a Stanley Cup in my my eyes, its Brandon Prust, since andrew ference won it last year. HOOT HOOT!!
Prust, he aint gifted with over abundance of talent and I didn't care for him when he first got called up. I thought, this plug is useless like Bauma, but wow, you can't question his compete level, one of those rare and genuine "team player" Prust kept getting better and better. He gave it all he had with his multiple stints with the Flames.
Good luck Prust, as a passionate and gimlet eyed Flames fan, I appreciate your solid character.
