Does not belong in that 1st group. He has not talken that next step and all of those 4 forwards in that 1st group are dynamic offensively or have that potential. Murray belongs in group 2. He and Dumba are the leaders of that group.
Yeah, I kept hearing the same thing about the 2008 draft. Big drop off after 7. Yeah...big drop off....
Just proves you never know.
I don't think 2008 was so cut and dried. There was a top 2-Stamkos and Doughty, with a next 3 or 4 (piet, Bogo, Schenn, Filatov) and then 6-7 guys who could be 7-12 or 13.
Saying it's top 10 and then weak, isn't really as accurate as, "after the top 10, it could be 1 of 20 guys who go next. Doesn't mean higher upside, just quicker development so you know what you have. Top 10 are probable NHLer. Everyone else is hopeful.
* - Not in chronological order. Just groupings.
This is more how I see it as well. I've been confused lately with the people criticizing Murray so much. He has carried that bad Everett team his whole junior career. He can do everything, and carried his team in the playoffs.
