I thought the dynamic between Datsyuk and Nyquist was p. good. Had more shots than Franzen with 6 minutes less ice time.

Oh and the forward pairings for OT?

Datsyuk-Franzen
Zetterberg-Cleary
Filppula-Bert

What...the...****?

My thoughts exactly They could try Nyquist/Datsyuk, Zetterberg/Filppula, and possibly Hudler/Franzen(?). Those would be mine

It'll be interesting to see what the Wings sign him for in the off season. I'm guessing Q has a spot here because of Kindl's stalled development.
Kindl was good tonight. He has been good most of games I've seen from him since mid February.

The only people who think Quincey is better than Kindl are people who compare the stats of a miscast top pairing defenseman on a mediocre team to an offensive defenseman being used 14 minutes a night on a top team.

Right now, Kindl is every bit as good or better than Quincey.
Shot isn't as good (but even this is debatable). But he's a better passer. He skates better. He plays smarter D. Quincey can be more physical. But he's not smart about it.

Yeah I was both smh'ing and lol'ing all the way. Isn't that the sort of thing an assistant coach may come up with? It's like "hey Cleary and Zetterberg don't normally play together, let's give them some time to re-acquaint themselves with each other when the game is on the line!"

Not really

1. He was on the top pairing with Lidstrom.

2. He played 5+ minutes on the PK.

3. He's able to play top minutes, even last year he would play 20+ minutes a night.

What is good is he's reducing those bone headed mistakes. I think it's an ok signing from Holland if he improves on his defensive game with some offensive upside. A replacement for Stuart per se.

Hope Nyquist gets to stay on Datsyuk's line, he is adjusting to the speed slowly but surely. Definitely had some flare tonight, with a few good chances.

Also thought Ericsson had a very solid game, was impressed with what he brought. Stuart looks like he may be playing through an injury, seems a little slow/off.

Quincey needs to be smarter and try and limit the dumb penalties. Especially in the playoffs.

God no. Seriously?

Hudler and Franzen would take a whole shift just to backcheck. Horrible defensively.

This is where it would be nice getting a better top 6 forward. You have depth to roll lines in OT as well.

Quincey's play and White's play the last month simply made E look much better in comparison. There's still positional awkwardness and iffy decision-making at times but he's a big body and he's no worse positionally than the other guys we have.

Now that is interesting. Smacks of actual progress (as opposed to the rest of the team's current game).

E was good defensively today too.

Yup.

When interviewed between the 2nd and 3rd period, Babcock even specifically pointed out Ericsson's good play on the PK.

I think Quincey is going to miss at least 1 playoff game for that stupid hit. That guy is a jackass.

Babcock was asked the reasoning behind the success on the PK. One word ... 'Ericsson.'

I'm sure it's a coincidence but we have not given up a PP goal since Ericsson has returned to the lineup. He logs big PK mins and looked good alongside Stuart today.

Yeah I think you need one of Fil, Z and Datsyuk on the ice at all times when playing 4 on 4. Then you rotate in other forwards with them, mostly Cleary and Franzen. We tried Cleary-Abdelkader probably out of necessity when Helm was injured and that didn't go so well. Neither guy is a good enough skater with all that open ice.

Ericsson was the best defensemen out there today. Sad how much he's been **** on all season considering how steady he's been.

Thank Quincey, we were dominating the third and then he took that insanely retarded penalty. He's dumb as a fence post, 100x worse than Abdelkader when Abby is at his worst.

Jimmy could have easily had a shutout as that one goal allowed was pretty weak. He got most of it but it somehow squirted through and into the net. Florida's a solid team so this is a move in the right direction. The big game is going to be taking on the Blues on the road.

Ericsson has been solid since coming back for sure. I saw some mean streak today, too. I wish that part of his game would be more consistent. Biggest positive the last four games has been our PK, a lot thanks to him. Getting Howard back into his best form will only improve it further. A good PK makes all the difference in games like this.

I don't disagree about Q, but having long since been ejected, he was not the reason the team was so punchless in OT. The Panthers were blatantly sitting back 4 on 4 and playing for the shootout, yet still got better looks than we did.
