Presidents Trophy

Looking at the remaining schedules of the top 3 teams our chances look good in my opinion to capture top spot.

Canucks
vs Anaheim
at Calgary
vs Edmonton

St.Louis
vs Detroit
vs Phoenix
at Dallas

NYR
vs Boston
at Philly
at Pittsburgh
vs Washington

Go Canucks Go!!

On paper, the Canucks have the easiest schedule...which likely means it will be the hardest.

Hopefully we can carry the momentum we've established over the last 6 games into the Final 3. The President's Trophy/1st in the West are luxuries, though. I just want to get to the post-season healthy.

Has this team won 9 in a row before? Even last year I remember longest streak was 7.

What?! I think or schedule is the only reason we even have a remote chance of beating the rangers..

As long as we run the tables, and rangers go 2-1-1 or worse, the Presidents Trophy will be ours!

Canucks pretty much have to win out to have a shot at the President's trophy. Rangers should get 4-5 pts, if not more, though any of those games could end up losses. Canucks should win at least 2 of 3, which wouldn't be enough. Getting 5 pts means Canucks likely lose on a tie-breaker. It'd be pretty cool to be the first repeat President's Trophy winners since Detroit in the two seasons straddling the lockout.

However, regardless of passing New York (pretty low probability), I think the Canucks should be able to stay ahead of St. Louis for first in the West, which could be important.

I fully expect us to win these next 3 games. Which feels weird considering we are bubble team at best.

After everything that happened last season (going all the way to the Finals, facing a heartbreaking loss in Game 7, sustaining all of those injuries/off season surgeries, and having trouble in the beginning of the season), we are in contention for the PT and at the top of the WC again.

I respect the hell out of this team.

Rangers play the Bruins today at 4:00pm PDT on TSN2 which will be the game in hand over the Canucks.

It just feels so wrong to be cheering for the Bruins.

Detroit bracketed the lockout season - 2003-04 and 2005-06

Dallas - 1997-98 and 1998-99

Not really. If the Canucks go 3-0, they need the Rangers to go 2-1-1. I don't see them losing 2/4 games. I think we've got the Blues beat, which is all that matters in the long run. Chances are very low that we'd face NY in the Finals if we make it that far.

Detroit is fighting for home ice vs Nashville ...... Right now Nashville is ahead by one point

I've heard Detroit plays quite well on home ice so I don't think they want to lose it.

I can see the B's laying down to the Rangers JUST to screw us out of a chance at home-ice throughout the playoffs.

Yes... I do believe that THEY are after us, in every way... every day.

We'll probably lose to the Ducks and maybe Flames. I just don't see us losing to the Oilers hopefully.

Rangers could easily lose 2 of those games. All 4 are good teams with a solid chance of winning. I'd be surprised to see them lose more than 2 games, and I'd be surprised to see them win them all, but losing 1-2 games is right around what I'd expect for the Rangers.

Eh, St. Louis just lost 2 in a row, it's totally possible for NYR to lose one in reg and one in OT/SO, especially since they play three very tough opponents and one hungry team trying to make the playoffs... plus, I would think Biron would get at least one start to let Lundqvist rest

Doesn't really matter though because we all know the Canucks will lose to the Ducks

Didn't say we have no chance. If the Rangers lose twice, we still have to extend our win streak to 9 games (when's the last time we did that?). If we lose once in regulation, the Rangers only have to go 1-1-2.

There's a chance, but I wouldn't call it good (<50%).

Further proof Detroit is a very smart organization. Why get the 4-5 match up against a very decent Nashville team when you could play some playoff bubble team that will finish 3rd.

Picking your opponents tends not to be a very good idea. Would be funny if they dropped to 6, then San Jose won the Pacific and knocked out Detroit for the 3rd straight season.

I don't know the last time the two teams that finished 1 2 in the PT race met in the finals but its been a long time.

If we win the west, do we really care about home ice against and only against NYR.

If we win the west I will be very happy.

The odds are massive that we have home ice in every series we play if we end up ahead of St L.

damn its good to be a Nuck fan these days.
