Ray Shero has a something to say about Milbury's comments.
Quote:
It’s fine to have an opinion on players but when you’re making light of concussions, that’s not right,” said Shero. "I’ve gone through this with my own kid (who had a concussion), obviously we’ve gone through it as a team with Sidney Crosby and saw what it took for him to battle back from it over the past year, there’s nothing funny about post-concussion syndrome. I don’t think it would have been very funny had he made fun of [concussed Flyers captain] Chris Pronger in that light. There’s nothing funny about [former Flyers captain] Keith Primeau having to retire from it. This is an issue that is at the forefront of our league right now and to make light of these concussions is a real lame attempt at humor. He should know better than this.
Quote:
As for Milbury calling Crosby a "goody two-shoes,’’ Shero doesn’t understand it.

"I’m not sure what he’s implying there,” he said. "Sidney Crosby is a fierce competitor, that’s what makes him great, that’s what makes him a great captain. It’s no different than a Peter Forsberg -- they’re fierce competitors and they play to win the game."
And yeah, I'm sure Milbury released that statement because he had to and not because he genuinely felt apologetic about what he said. I just wish the guy would get fired already.

Milbury was clearly forced to make this statement, doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

But one of the funnier comments below that story read "Meanwhile, Islanders fans everywhere continue their long wait for their own apology from Milbury"

His rant has been mentioned on just about every NHL website except NHL.com. That tells me the league is not happy with him and i'm sure he heard about it.

That play happens 10 times a game and I've never heard it called "targeting a player".
Funny thing is that Bylsma and Crosby most likely wouldn't even have address it or said a damn word about that cross check in the post game interview had it not been for Laviolette going ape $h!t in the first place. Sid has gotten nailed much worse than that in the past but shrugged it off in post-game interviews. DB rarely EVER complains about any type of nonsense that goes on on the ice.

How about we just stop using women's names as an insult? Having to hear other team's fans call Sid Cindy gets tiring and annoying. I'd rather some of the Pens fans on this board be above that ****.

Why does Milbury still have a job? It's not even just about his latest shot at Crosby and Bylsma. The guy is an oaf.

Wasn't he being charged for hitting a minor a couple of weeks ago. This guy should be fired by NBC and CBC and shouldn't be on air anymore. What a joke, worse then Don Cherry

Briere talks about Vitale's hit:

Quote:
"Everybody knows that you put the line that they put on the ice at the end of the game with a minute left when the game is out of hand, everyone knows the intent," Briere said. "Was it a bad hit? No, it was a clean hit. But obviously whatever he was doing, he was obviously trying to hurt me. We all know that. It was a clean hit, I'm the first one to admit to that. I saw him coming at the last second. I braced myself to take the hit like I do when I've taken hits like that. Just turned out bad this time. Not much else to say or do about it. It is what it is. It just makes for a more entertaining series coming up if we face them in the first round."
yeah no ****, you hit a guy to hurt him

Briere should talk to James Harrison:
Quote:
"I don't want to see anyone injured," Harrison said, "but I'm not opposed to hurting anyone."

Say what?

"There's a difference," Harrison said. "When you're injured, you can't play. But when you're hurt, you can shake it off and come back. I try to hurt people."

Crosby, on post-concussion treatment by opposing players: "I don’t feel like anyone has come after me any more, or any less."

Crosby: "As far as me slashing someone, that’s hockey. I guess I’m not a gentleman out there on the ice sometimes, I’ll say that."

Crosby: "It’s a contact sport, and I do get involved … but I don’t think I’ve gotten one penalty in a scrum since I’ve been back."

Crosby, Part 1 of 2: "If you are to dissect everything and show my response to certain things sometimes, yeah, I do do things out there.

Crosby, 3 of 3: "... But I think that for the most part, if it was that easy to knock me off my game, guys would do a little bit more of it"

"If it was an attempt at comdey, it falls real short"

"I don't think it would have been very funny had he made fun of(concussed Flyers captain) Chris Pronger in that light"
Good on Sid. Hopefully this pulls him and the rest of the team on the same page and into focus. It's good to see him show a bit of an edge here, IMO.

Any coincidence that Milbury apologizes and NBCSports has the game tonight?? He should be a man instead of the **** he is and justify his comments on the pregame show!!!

The game was scheduled like at the beginning of March or at least right there at the time.

My point is the apology came because of game being on NBC. I know game was scheduled prior. He would not have apologized otherwise IMO.

I don't get this whole argument...

How was Bylsma gutless? Doubt Lavs could define gutless, but that is just plain silly.

Gutless is starting a fight and bailing when the punches came. Who did that?

What about Hartnell taking the extra hit after every stoppage? How is that ok, or even within the rules?

Saw Hartnell slash a player last week, think it was a Sabre, and they both got a penalty for Hartnell's slash. He does it to everyone but you don't hear the cries.

And the "Cindy" thing. How is Crosby the crier while they are crying about 6 different things from one game and they are justified? What the heck is going on? Richards cried about everything and we were supposed to believe he was Captain Leadership.

And Briere. What in the world!?! How is this happening and how is this given credence. This is nuts. It was a hockey play. I don't get how that is even an issue.

Milbury. All about NBC and ratings.

How did we get to a point where every hit becomes a tactic for the other team to claim they were wronged? We fight for suspensions now.

They somehow turned Cooke into an evil person when he is far from the dirtiest hockey player and now they want to do the same to Vitale.

I hope hockey doesn't keep down this path. Sad stuff.

Fair enough.I hope you can see that when Crosby says, "it's a contact sport", it gets a little frustrating when he complains about a cross check.

Excited for the next 3 weeks.

What a complete jag-off that guy is.

Hey Milbury why don't you "take off your skirt" and stand by your own strong opinions and heated comments? You say all this stuff like it's a big deal to you / really bothers you... then you apologize? **** OFF! We don't want your apology and sooner or later NBC will get its head out of its ASS and realize no one (not even Philly fans) want to listen to your inane rambling during intermissions. Drop dead, pal.

We should all send email to NBC. It will be like Good Morning Viet Nam when the Polka guy is getting railed.

"'Hey Milbury, eat a bag of **** - you suck!!'
Not a lot of grey area in that one, sir..."

"'Milbury licks the sweat off a dead man's balls!'
I have no idea what that means sir but it doesn't sound good."

Only to the extent that he's afraid of getting fired. His apology has about as much weight as Rush Limbaugh's. Two d-bags who run their mouths as loudly as possible to get attention, meantime completely kill the signal:noise ratio in their respective endeavors. Both useless pieces of crap.
