I agree.

But I still like Scott Hartnell.

if you read one post in this thread, make it this one please. I'm not defending anyone's action but just know...

During the pens time with the goalie pulled we had the following players on the ice:

Crosby
Malkin
Staal
Neal
Kunitz
Letang

That leaves the following players somewhat rested
Sullivan
Dupuis
Adams
Asham
Cooke
Kennedy
Martin
Michalek
Orpik
Engelland
Niskanen

That leaves only one line fully rested

Asham-Vitale-Adams
and one defensive pair that hasn't played 20+ minutes already
Niskanen-Engelland.

Deal with it.

Watching the replay, the hit was clean, but at the time/game speed it looked like Vitale was head hunting so I can see how the flyers players would be upset. He definitely had no intention of playing the puck. Clearly Blysma didn't like his team having their ***** kicked at home so he put out some physical players to make a statement. Boy was that fun to watch.

And Sidney really needs to stop being such a big baby. It's why fans of other teams dislike him so much.

Pens fans can't comprehend that though. Your "franchise" was saved by a miraculous 1st overall going your way ( yet again). Without Crosby you would be the Winnipeg Jets. Don't you forget that.
I have a feeling Ron Burkle isn't going to run out of money like the old owner. That should help. As sad as it was, those were the best teams they could afford to put out there.

I don't think you guys get it. There was no reason to deliver a hard hit that late in a hockey game when you are down 3 goals. That's why people don't like the hit, it was totally unnecessary.

However, I love it because it started that whole fight! Most exciting game of the year.

I'm fine with it. It's hockey, tough sport.

But tell me one thing! Why all the Flyers fans cry about Asham punched Schenn? You somehow don't see that happens in other games?

I would be fine with the last seconds, even that flyers players went after Vitale, but then, stand there like men, do not whine about anything. You want to fight, then fight. But instead of that, it's Asham this, Vitale that, Engelland this, the whole team that.

We lost, you played better game, move on. Prepare for the Saturday game, it can look like last minutes of this game !

Don't like siding with either team, but the Flyers responded justly.
This.

I hate both teams, and it pains me to say this, but the Flyers have been the more upstanding team all year. The Penguins are like poster children for entitlement issues. Malkin retaliates with cheap shots any time he is hit with a hard yet clean body check. Or if someone steals the puck from him and makes him look stupid, he's going to slash and kick and cry. I guess Sid taught him that.

The Flyers are usually (referring to years past) the dirtier team, but this year they really aren't. They are tough, but for the most part they do play the game the right way, and especially their stars do. Absolutely cannot say the same for the Penguins and their stars. Malkin, Crosby, Letang are as whiny and dirty as they come. Letang throws his girlish hair and head back three times a game even if there's no contact to his face. Crosby could've had five slashing penalties today. Malkin could've had 3-4 penalties, easily.

I hope both teams bruise eachother up in the first round.

Lets not forget Pitt got away with kneeing Grossman who is a top 2 D on this team.

Grossman did not return to the game after the hit.

Stop whining about it.
Whining about it?

People are complaining about a CLEAN HIT to respond to a DIRTY HIT to Crosby.

Who cares if it was called? Who cares it Schenn never plays again over the hit. The fact is it was intentional and it set Pittsburgh off.

They responded in a CLEAN MATTER. They tried to go after Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia lost the fights. They followed it up with THEIR HEAD COACH breaking equipment of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and THREW IT AT THE PITTSBURGH PLAYERS.

But wait, Pittsburgh is whining, right?

No one here has said that. You're projecting. The hit on Briere was fine. The fact that the "goon" line was on the ice in the last 90 seconds of an obviously losing effort when they hadn't been on the ice for 12 minutes is the problem. I don't REALLY have a problem with it, because I love all the shenanigans.

As a neutral fan...I have a few thoughts:

#1 - Nobody should be crying about the hit. It was as clean as they come. No elbow, no headshot, no charge...just a textbook open ice hit.

#2 - Nobody should be crying about the response. One of your skilled guys gets laid out (clean or otherwise) late in a game where the outcome is not in doubt...you have to respond.

#3 - How can anyone NOT enjoy stuff like this?! It's one of the main reasons I love hockey. You won't find that kind of emotion in Basketball, baseball or even football. This is GOLD.

Raise your hands if you're excited for the next Pens-Flyers game?? *Raises Hand*

The Flyers are going to send players after Crosby in the same way players have gone after Giroux.

Deal with it.

Flyers are also going to overreact in the same way Kunitz did against Hartnell.

Deal with it.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if these are the rules for your side, they're the rules for both sides.
