LOL forsberg never had a 40 goal season and ovie had a 65 goal season in his 3rd year...
Not saying forsberg doesnt bring a lot to the table besides goal scoring, but come on once ovie is back on his game this won't even be a contest
I don't see how the amount of goals scored has to do with anything. Forsberg was a top play maker with great defensive abilities. His playoff numbers also speak for themselves. Its Forsberg by a long shot, unless Ovi gets back on track and stays on track for a number of years
Realistically, it's Forsberg by quite a bit. Forsberg is a flat-out warrior who never had any excuses for being off of his game. Lost a spleen? I'll come back and light it up. Foot made of cardboard and duct-tape? I'll still put up terrific numbers before it falls apart again. I think people forget what a force Forsberg was before the injuries took their toll. Foppa could put up 100+ points and be nominated for the Selke. Ovie scored 65 goals, is a beast, and is more of a human highlight reel, but god was Forsberg a better overall hockey player.
That said, I still voted Malkin as the son of a god.
Forsberg quite easily for me. Ovechkin shoots better than Forsberg did but that's about it.
I think Ovi might have slightly better straight line speed. Forsberg was clearly quicker, a better skater and a million times smarter with the puck along with being better at every other aspect of the game as well.
Ovechkin is probably the better scorer (and would have been in any era). But, I think I'd take Forsberg for all-round play (smarts, positioning) efficiency/effectiveness, leadership (by example) and value to a team.
People got to learn how to use punctuation. On our radio ads the other day a black man's wallet was reported as missing. Instead of a man's wallet black in colour missing a black man's wallet is missing.
