One thing we need to remember is the new cba and revenue sharing rules being changed. The isles ,Devils and Ducks have pushed for the revenue sharing rules to be changed for a few yrs now.If Wang and the isles get that $10m check,I'd hope they would sink some of that money into improving the on ice product.
I'm guessing Wang would rather keep the payroll below the floor and take that check as all profit.

I'd add Brookbank to that as well, would love to get more physical. One guy I'd like to trade for is Mark Stuart from the Jets but he may be one of those guys who is untouchable because they won't be able to replace what he brings to the room and on the ice (like Martin for us). Also, Douglas Murray

It will be intersting to see what they do with Reasoner and Cizikas. Reasoner had such a horrible year, I could see him shipped off. Cizikas looked good but ultimately is better off with more time in Bridgeport.

I can't imagine that being legal.

I would love Brookbank but unfortunately he's the same to Anaheim as Martin is to us. Same with O'Brien and Colorado.

Get Reasoner out of here. Sign Stoll.

What? I don't know anything about teams taking that revenue money and re-investing it in the team. Wang could ice the same type of team with backloaded contract, bonuses for 35+ players, loaded ELC's and have the payroll be at 35 million, take the 10 million and make himself that much richer.

BTW, where is the 10 million dollar figure coming from? Is that the set number for revenue sharing?

I don't know if that is the set number.I read an article about Columbus qualifying for a full share of revenue sharing. The writer said the check could be for as much as $10m.

In Dec. 2010.Daly told Botta that the Isles,Ducks and Devils have been pushing to have revenue sharing rules changed in the new cba. From his comments,it sounds those teams stand a good chance of getting revenue sharing checks.

Now that is a real 4th line. That is a 4th line that can bring toughness & energy to every shift. Plus they're probably good for 25 or so goals over the year.
This...I been saying for awhile that hes a good player and him and martin on our 4th line would be crazy...The thing I like about the Rags 4th line is that they can be out in any situation and its not considerd a weakness....when we get to that point we will be a good team....Reasoner and Pandolfo suck.....unfortunstly Reasoner will be back and I dont see him being traded.

Why do you want Stoll? He's awful. I'd rather just go with Cizikas.

Jerome Ignilia

Damien Cox tweeted today that The Flames might be dangling around Ignilia this off season. He talked about how the Maple leafs would show interest in helping there youth.

My question is, What would it take for us to get him? Without a question he is a solid player who still has plenty left in the tank. He is a leader and can be a perfect winger for JT. He can help teach KO and at the same time teach Nino what it means to be a power forward.

If Calgary is seriously considering moving him then the Islanders should make a move to bring him here!

It sounds great but he would never agree to come here.

What do you expect?

I think if we let Nielsen take the 2nd line center role he will run with it especially on a line with Bailey and Okposo.

We should try to steal some pieces from teams in the west that seem to be rebuilding/retooling. I think we could get some good pieces for cheap from teams like SJ/Calgary/Minnesota/Columbus/Anaheim.

SJ Vlasic or Pavelski
Min IDK
COL Tyutin
Ducks Sbisa and Ryan.....Ryan's Price would be high and I Think if one of the Big 3 were too be traded from them that Getzlaf and Perry would go before Ryan, just my gut...

I'd welcome in Jarrett Stoll as my 3rd line center, he's a 54 % faceoff guy, plays on the PK and is known to be good in the shootouts. He can provide intangibles. He's 30 so he could always return to his 20 goal, 25 assist form. We are 27th in faceoffs, he would certainly help us not be so close to the bottom.

This is gonna set off a firestorm of disagreement, but what the heck...
34 yr old Ignila is a ufa in July 2013.
There is no way in hell, that the Isles should pay the huge price Calgary will demand for him.

Please don't come back with the comment, that the isles can just sign him to an extension.Haven't we gone through the 'let's just give him a blank check and treat like a god approach, with Smyth?

If Snow packages his top youngsters or moves his first rounder,he has to bring back a young star ,still in his prime and several yrs from becoming a ufa.

Not much to get you excited there is it??

I think the isles should go hard for someone like Grossmann and Garrison which would upgrade our defense considerably. Wideman too but be a very good addition.

I also expect them to try giving someone like Penner or Boyes a new lease of life and get their careers back on track. I'd like Brandon Prust a lot for the 4th line

Any discussion of trades must put into perspective that fact that the owner of the Islanders is probably the only owner in the NHL that a winning team is not a priority.
He is simply not interested in the teams performance. He is only interested in spending as little as he can legally and possibly arrange until he gets what he wants, the rights to develop a mini-city around a new arena financed by a public authority.
There may be other owners in the NHL that care as little as Wang, but I do not know of any.
Wang can be compared to the late Bill Wirtz who owned the Black Hawks because he inherited them and couldn't unload them for fair value as a result of his own mismanagement.
It's all about the Benjamin's with Wang.

Oh I think Wang would like to see the team win,but at this point, keeping payroll just above the cap floor and holding on until 2015 are higher priorities.

I wouldn't mind Brad Boyes, I just don't see a spot for him unless it's on the 3rd line especially if Parenteau is re-signed. Penner would be solid. Trade Bailey for a defenseman.

Moulson-Tavares-Parenteau

Bailey will not be dealt, expect Nilsson to make a push for the backup job. I think de Haan will suprise some people and be on the bottom pairing. Also expect Haley to be on the 4th line with Martin.

If this team were trying to win, I would sign Wideman to a beefy contract and try to get Grossman, Jackman, or Kuba for the left part of the third pairing and Sarich, Gilroy, or Kubina for the right side. Resign Staios and Reese and then we have great depth and the kids can develop and become over ripe at the Bridge.

Offensively the top 6 is forming I believe. Grabner will be on the left side of the third line while Ullstrom plays RW. We need a third line center. And the fourth line should look like this Martin-Reasoner-Haley

I'd rather go with this

Grabs-Ullstrom-Martin
Prust-Haley-Glass

I am not saying he is excellent, or that he would be my first phone call on July 1 but I would definitely take him. Right now he would be no worse than our 4th best defenseman on today's team.
