Would love to see the team bring Asham back into the fold!

Dunno why he'd want to leave Pittsburgh though unless they simply don't re-up him. Life there must be pretty good nowadays.

I'd love to have him back too. He brings so much to the teams he playes for. On the Trade board the Pens fans said they would not offer him a multiple year deal. maybe that is how we can entice him to return?

Some Sabres fans seem to think Leopold will be dealt, in a cost cutting move.
A few are saying a mid rounder is what they expect.Others on their board, hope he's kept until the trade deadline, when they could squeeze a 2nd rounder out of some team.
He is a ufa in 2013 and will make $3m next season.

If he has to be moved for budget reasons,I doubt they can wait until the trade deadline.

A 3rd + Rkanshani(sp)?

Their 2012-2013 salary cap payroll is $60m.Their actual payroll stands at $72m.I'm guessing that includes Myers $10m signing bonus due this summer.

Garth might have interest in Leopold. It's definitely a Snow type deal though. Low cost, low risk, and his contract isn't anything too expensive.

Not that this is any revelation or anything, but I'm watching the wings/press game right now and my god this team needs to get bigger and tougher. Ntheyd get destroyed in playoff hockey

We should take both Leopold and Weber off their hands.

Definitely! If Bailey becomes a wing and they get rid of Reasoner I'd like Gaustad. Although expensive 4th liners may not be worth getting for this cap strapped team.

Hindsight being 20/20. I think Asham just changed your mind this afternoon in Philly. He in my book, just crossed the line from chippy to *******. He just pulled a Chris Simon as far as I'm concerned.

Eh, if we're going to skate Gillies for 3 games, we might as well take Asham.

It's too bad Snow never shows interest when he's an FA.

I lmao on the main trade board.A leafs fan proposed the following trade:
Connoly,Lombardi,Armstrong,Komosarek,D'Amigo,2nd
for
NYI 1st,Moulson

My response-
Isles wouldn't deal their 1st alone for that group of scraps.
Connoly-ufa in 2013,overpaid at $4.75m.Nielsen scored about 10-12 pts more,making $550,000.
Lombardi-ufa in 2013,3rd liner making $3.5m.scored 18 pts.
Armstrong-ufa in 2013,making $3m.Scored 3 pts
Komosarek-3rd pairing defenseman,making $4.5m
D'Amigo-isles have a bunch of prospects.No interest in D'Amigo or that 2nd

Oh, does Toronto have players who should embarrassed by their production.

90% of the posts are the usual fantasy proposals, from other team's fans :

The struggling Schenn+ the struggling Colborne/Kadri

Gagner+ the struggling Paarjarvi

I don't know why those fans think Snow, would prefer their struggling youngsters over getting a prospect with 1st pairing potential or 1st line potential.

There are only 1 or 2 good offers out of the whole thread, taking into account that Snow wants a youngster with high upside, low salary and yrs from unrestricted free agency.

Forget the first, I wouldn't deal Moulson for that group. Isles add about $12M in salary, and probably get worse.

Moulson scored more goals in the NHL this season, then all of those leaf players combined.

Re-sign PA, Pandolfo, Reese, Haley, Martin, Staios, and prospects
Sign Garrison, B. Jackman, Winnik, and McClement

Moulson (3.13) - Tavares (5.5) - Parenteau (4.25)
Ullstrom (0.89) - Bailey (1.05) - Okposo (2.8)
Martin (1.25) - Nielsen (2.75) - Grabner (3.0)
Winnik (1.0) - McClement (1.25) - Haley (0.75)
Pandolfo (.725), Reasoner (1.35)

Garrison (5.0) - Streit (4.1)
Jackman (3.75) - Hamonic (.875)
MacDonald (0.55) - Staios (0.8)
Reese (0.55)

Nabokov (2.75)
DiPietro (4.5)

Yashin (2.20)

$54,800,000 caphit which is only 5 mil higher than last season and with the cap going up we'd still probably be in last for salary

For those who are interested, I just read an interview with Jurcina in slovak newspaper and he isn't going to stay. It was mainly about the upcoming WC and national team, but when he was asked about his future, Jurcina said that he didn't see any interest from Snow or Cappy to bring him back and he'll propably find a new employer on July 1st.

That's depressing, I will miss Juice. When on, his shot is like a rifle on the PP. No idea why he ever got benched over guys like Mottau at the end of the season.

Thank goodness Tavares signed his longterm extension, sparing us lowball offers from Leaf fans

I posted the two proposals below on the Sabres board.
I know some will balk at trading Lee,but we will have to eventually move some of our youngsters.

I'd hope that Leopold would get to LI,drink the kool aid that Tavares and company are swilling and want to sign an extension

Isles need a solid 2nd pairing defenseman,Sabres, I believe, want to add some youth/size/toughness.Leopold's got 1 yr on his deal and makes $3m.

1.Leopold for NYI 2nd and Rakhshani. RW Rhett is a small, skilled winger. There's no room on LI for him because he has not been able to bump aside the current top 6 wingers and lacks the size the isles are trying to add in the bottom 6.

2.Leopold for NYI 3rd and Anders Lee.I bumped the pick down because Lee is a better prospect. At 6'2 210 lbs,I believe he plays both center and lw.He'll be in his final yr of college next season.

i've seen you mention the fact that the isles have an over-abundance of the same type of point-man defender. isn't leopold just another one of what the isles already have waiting in the wings?

Good point.Isles would probably be better off, adding someone like Calgary's Sarich (ufa) or SJ's Murray.

it doesn't look good for our isles next year given the names that we are using here, does it? all three names you have just mentioned are better than what the isles used this year, but it is still depressing nonetheless. i honestly believe short of a major acquisition that this team is a likely destination for nathan mackinnon next year.

I'm fine going into next season with Streit/Hamonic/MacDonald in the top 4.
I just want a solid vet added to the top 4.Then we can give the rookies from Bridgeport, sheltered minutes.
