think we are looking at 8th, if we get in. FLA probably just wrapped it up with that loser point.

We lose to them by 1 pts, maybe 2. Just win in TB to get the chance....

Also somewhat disgusting - over 25% of NJs wins are in the shootout - 12 out of 45. They have the same number of 'real' wins as TB does. Interesting to see how they do with no shootout in the playoffs.

I think NJ is the dark horse of the playoffs. They play a very good disciplined system, they are going to be a handful for any team in the East. I'd rather the Caps face the Rags than NJ.

I dunno. I like how well-coached NJ is, and they've got a couple of game breakers in Kovalchuk and Parise, but I don't like their defense, goaltending, or center depth.

Very similar profile to the Caps, actually, except for the 'well-coached' part.

Caps actually match up relatively well with both the Rangers and the Bruins. Assuming they clinch the 8th seed, they would likely face those two teams in the first two rounds. It could be particularly interesting, given the match up of the Pens/PHL and NJ/FLA on the other side.

Baby steps, I know, but still fun to ponder.

Just for grins, I ran the EC standings for 2 points win, 1 point tie end of OT, no loser point (no shootout). Nothing real dramatic.

NYR: 101
PHI: 95
PIT: 90
BOS: 89
NJ: 82
OTT: 80
WSH: 80
FLA: 79
--
BUF: 75
WIN: 72
TB: 72

I think.

I'm not really sure what to make of NJ at all, sometimes when I watch them everything's clicking beautifully for them other times they have nothing no goaltending no scoring no defense.

Who knows what they'll be in the playoffs. In my mind there's only two teams I'm certain the Caps would have very very little of a chance against Pitt and Philly. The rest all have holes or consistency problems

Edit: Wouldn't mind having Asham on this team but it's hard to deny he's a piece of **** so much for the code, earlier in the year the Beagle incident and today punches Schenn in the face while he's being held by another player. Way to respect the code jackass

Limping but everyone still playing. Can't imagine the Pens fans if they were to be down anyone let alone the top tier guys.

Leafs score!!! 1-0

Nice rush by Kessel, his line mates support him and rush the center of the ice and it gives Kessel so much room.

Foligno takes a stupid penalty then fights, 7 minutes without Foligno.

Wow...Connolly with the post. This could easily be 3-0 Leafs.

Kessel to Bozak again 2-0!!!!!

I think Caps just made the playoffs, no way Philly is mailing it on Thursday, they need to win to get home ice against the Penguins.
