Yeah but is it possible to compare when we've never had defensemen who could do a decent break-out pass to start with?

I'm not against signing Carle in UFA, although from the Philly fans that watch him way more than I do he's not going to be worth the contract he'll probably get this FA, I'm against trading anything for a player that will be a UFA in a few weeks. Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm so dazzled by his ability to make a routine pass that i'm blinded to any flaws he might have!

Though, I don't think it's as much of an illusion you seem to assume it is.
Well, the reality is Gilbert's defensive ability is pretty poor. He is useless on a 1-on-1, because he watches the puck, and not the player, so he easily gets burned.

BUt at least he can make good passes to make up for it. Schultz couldn't do that.

Nashville's lack of offensive jump is surprising to me.

I think his defense has been much better than advertised. Better than Schultz was by far!

^This.

How much of their offense comes from that #1 powerplay?

Blind backdoor to Brodziak. Say that 5 times fast.

No solid evidence to overturn that.

Looked like Backstroms blocker hand came to cover it but who knows how they will call this.

Why does Backs never pass the puck? I honestly can't remember the last time I saw him do anything other than leave it at the edge of the crease.

How about Nikitin or Enstrom? Not sure if Columbus or Winnipeg would be willing to move them though.

The only thing that I can think of is that they're looking to see if a Wild player (not Backs) touched the puck in the blue paint. One of our guys looked to have touched it. Maybe they're trying to determine if it was accidental or not. If it wasn't, that's a penalty shot.

that was a pretty good view on the last angle, seems like a pretty easy non-goal call to me. not sure what they're looking at.

The puck squirted into the net, but I think that was after the whistle...
