So Trocheck has one more game (tomorrow) to catch Sarault for the scoring title. Sarault played his final game today and sits at 108 points. Trocheck sits at 106 points.

I don't know enough about Plymouth and if they'll rest him or whatever but hopefully they don't.

I hope he gets it. He also has 6 games less played. Should be MVP easily if they hand out that kinda award

I was thinking, could we have a Weiss clone in Trocheck? A '2nd line' two-way center who can put up 40-60 points a year?

That's the ceiling for him.

Otherwise, I'll be satisfied with a PK guy, 3rd-line, who gets somewhere around 15g, 20a..

Anything less and that would suck..

Highlights of Trocheck's 3 assists today. Kind of cool how the team rallied around him and helped get him the title.

That is cool! Even cool that the linesman congratulated him. I think we're going to like this kid!

Nice to see a 3rd-rounder doing well. Haven't had too many in the 3rd-round help us in the past..

Maybe Hagman, Ward, Kvasha, Dadonov, Campbell.. Actually, they all turned out to be average to below average NHLers.

*Campbell's a good role guy.. Hagman had some decent years.

Can Trocheck sign with San Antonio like Shore did, or is he not old enough?

He's already signed I think... Pretty sure when season is done he'll go to San Antonio.

I may actually be confusing him with McFarland.

Keep in mind though, that there aren't that many 3rd rounders that end up as NHLers. I mean currently, the list since the 2005 lockout is this:

Year Team Pick # Player Name
2005 PIT 1 Kris Letang
2005 CBJ 6 Kris Russell
2005 LAK 11 Jonathan Quick
2005 NSH 18 Cody Franson
2005 STL 24 Ben Bishop
2005 BUF 26 Marc-Andre Gragnani
2006 MTL 3 Ryan White
2006 BOS 8 Brad Marchand
2006 MIN 9 Cal Clutterbuck
2006 EDM 12 Theo Peckham
2006 CBJ 22 Tommy Sestito
2007 MTL 12 Yannick Weber
2007 TB 16 Alex Killorn
2008 PHI 6 Marc-Andre Bourdon
2008 OTT 18 Zack Smith
2008 NJ 21 Adam Henrique
2009 COL 3 Tyson Barrie
2009 WSH 24 Cody Eakin
That's 18 players in 5 years and there was 150 players selected in that time frame. So that equates to about 12% of the players selected in the 3rd round could turn out to be NHLers. The plus side for us is we selected 4 players in that 3rd round in 2011 so that should improve our chances of landing at least 1 true NHLer from that round, whether thats Trocheck or not.

Nope you're right, he's already signed. But that really doesnt have any bearing on him going to San Antonio. Keep in mind, when a player is sent back to juniors like Trocheck, his contract slides 1 yr so it doesnt count against us for the 50 contract rule. Trocheck will just sign an ATO (amateur tryout offer) to play with San Antonio once his season is done. I think Petrovic did the same thing last yr (he was already signed IIRC prior to last season).

I was looking at our 5th rounders as Knight should be a good player down the road. Our best 5th round player we drafted was Spacek.

I'd appreciate if mods can add 2013 to those years on the title, starting to really bother me lol.

Two things:

1. Trochek has potential to be a very good player. Kid has incredible speed, drive and overall passion for the game. Honestly, if i were you guys i would draft hartman if you can because their chemistry i noticed was incredible. He wont be a top liner but definitely a 5-7th forward in terms of ice time nightly IMHO. Can play all situations.

2. whats the story on petrovic? has he been developing as promised and could he be a call up next season? thanks guys

1) What round is Hartman projected to go?

2) From our Rampage friends here, it sounds like he's steady. I'm sure he'll get a call-up next season and perhaps might get a game or two in this season.

Hartman will probably be a first, a late one.. there's a small chance he could go in the second but maybe you will trade up? Detroit always loves to move back..

Very exciting, hopefully he wins it! He certainly worked his ass for it, no doubt. Hopefully we found our "david bolland" or more in this kid.
