Saros is an outstanding Junior goalie, but it remains to be seen how his lack of size will impact him going forward. Plus, Goalie development is a long and ardious curve, so fretting over not taking a 19 yr old Goalie in the previous entry draft seems a little silly.
In UND's second game of the weekend, Grimaldi left in the latter half of the 3rd period and did not return.. Anyone know anything further?
Notes: Simpson and Gordon were named the Player of the Game for their respective teams … Grimaldi left the game with an injury early in the third period and did not return. However, Hakstol said he didn’t think the injury would be long-term … Hakstol said he was planning on starting Clarke Saunders in goal tonight, but the senior came down with the flu late last night and had to stay at the hotel tonight … Next Friday’s game against CC will be telecast live nationally on CBS Sports Network.
Connor Brickley being interviewed on this weeks "UVM Coach's Show" on WVMT. Little insight here, first of all he's a Bruins fan But also he was asked what have the Panthers asked him to work on over the years, and it's clear they've been grooming him as a 4th line grinder all along. He says they've talked with him and with his coach and they wanted him to simplify his game and work on getting the puck in deep and being physical. So if anyone's really wondering about his offensive output, it hasn't really been his role and isn't his expected role if he ever makes the big leagues.
At this point, expect he'll go to the ECHL if he gets signed when the season ends. UVM's having a solid season this year (finally) and his leadership and work ethic has been part of it, so that'll help him get noticed.
He's only a bust if you are expecting a top 6 point producer. If you lower your expectations to a 3rd/4th line energy guy that can kill penalties and forecheck with speed, he's still a very useful player.
