Bobby Petrino fired by Arkansas after motorcycle crash situation

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireSto...cycle-16054028

Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino crashed his motorcycle on a highway and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Arkansas State Police said.

The crash happened Sunday night on Arkansas Highway 16 in Madison County, near the community of Crosses, Police spokesman Bill Sadler said. Petrino was driving a motorcycle that left the highway and crashed, Sadler said.

....just like in Atlanta, maybe Petrino was trying to jump to a motorcycle he liked better in the middle of a ride.

A source close to Petrino told Schad the coach is "pretty banged up" but "will recover." The 51-year-old is focused and determined to return to practice as quickly as possible, but it could take some time for him to recover, the source said.

A member of the Arkansas football staff told ESPN.com's Chris Low that Petrino was "going to be OK," but did suffer some injuries in the accident

I'd never want to be in Atlanta if I were him.

Petrino reportedly suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including multiple broken ribs, cuts and bruises and a sprained neck. Fortunately, those injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening.

....sprained neck...sounds like he's really lucky it wasn't much worse.

It's difficult to get a back injury when you're spineless.

Well, he's not the most loved human being out there, but no one should wish illness or injuries on someone just because they left a job or 2. Get well soon, chief.

I hope he has a full recovery.

And goes 0-11.

(I mean, in the long run it was GREAT that he left, it's not an "I wish he was still in Atlanta". But it was shady business)

News leaking now that he's been placed on paid administrative leave.

Wonder what his next job will be...

I didn't see there was a thread on this.

Who actually thinks he gets fired? I doubt it.

It'll ultimately come down to what the BOT and major donors decide. Who knows. I think it's weak putting him on "administrative leave"

Hmm...I know this is undoubtedly a standard clause in any contract but still...

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...ced-paid-leave

Quote:
The contract, which was for an average of $3.53 million annually, had a clause in it that would allow Arkansas to dismiss Petrino for "engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the university, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of head football coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the (university's) athletics programs in any way."
If this doesn't qualify, I don't know what does.

I'd be surprised if the school lets this go. It compromises everything else if they turn a big blind eye.

Quickest thing they could do to take action while putting their ducks in a row. In this day and age, firing in a hurry could have lawsuits against them.

Adios, and take your girl with you.

And how awful for both of them to have put their loved ones in this position. Petrino is married with kids while she is engaged to a guy who does swimming there on campus (is he's smart, he'll change the engagement to relationship ended)

It's never the actual act that gets people fired; it's the coverup.

Petrino told the school he was by himself. He told the media he was by himself. He told the AD he was by himself.

You lie to your boss, you get fired.

You get exactly what you bargain for when you hire a man like Bobby Petrino.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...ccident_040412

Quote:
Petrino’s marital failings are nobody’s business. That’s between him and his family. Let them sort it out in private.

But Petrino’s professional failings are between him and the entire state that follows the Razorbacks with monomaniacal fervor, paying his $3.6 million salary in the process. It is a professional failure to put your mistress on the payroll. It is a professional failure to mislead your bosses and make them look foolish by feeding them a dishonest line, then having them parrot it in public.

Forde is never afraid to call these guys out for their asshattery, is he?
