You can pick 1 of these 3 Dmen in a single elimination
Watching all this Norris talk has got me thinking about another way to qualify the "greatest all around ability" by a defensemen.
You can pick 1 of Weber, Karlsson or Chara, for a single elimination game. Yes I know the Norris is measured over a season, but for the purposes of this thread, let's narrow the scope. You as a GM can pick 1 defenseman to anchor your blueline for an all important game. You want the guy that gives you the best chance to win.
Karlsson can make the most difference which is what I'd want in a single elimination game. If it were a full season or a 7-game playoff I'd probably take Weber.
EK is so explosive and makes things happen so I am going with him if it is just one game.. weber by a bit if it were more than one game.. any of the 3 are going to be a good start to winning a hockey game, though.

Who do you pick?

For a single game, assuming they are all at their best this season. Karlsson, he can take over games by himself. For a 7 game series, I feel safer with Weber, even though Karlsson might be better, I would not trust him as much as I would Weber (but because I'm a sens fan, would I technically have Karlsson AND Weber/Chara, if I went for one of them, or would I get two Karlssons). The only reason I would not pick Chara, is because he would not fit into the Senators play style as well as the other two.
But Pietrangelo should be mentioned here, and I would probably be torn between him and Weber for a 7 game series, and I might have more thinking between Pietrangelo and Karlsson for the single game. I would be curious to how Pietrangelo would play in Ottawa's system.
At one time I feel like Chara is slowing down. Just my opinion.
Valid opinion since he's played so much over the past two years, but I'd wager he is going to rest up (as will everyone) prior to the playoffs and will be ready for Ottawa or Washington/Buffalo.
The man is a freak, he lifts the stones for the foundation of his new house/cottage in Slovakia so it's just impossible to wager against him.
Chara. The guy is constantly regarded as one of the best defensemen in the NHL, but I still feel like he doesn't get his due. Chara should have won the Norris last season, imo. He's one of the best defensemen on both sides of the ice I can remember for years. He's definitely up there as one of the best with Lidstrom and Pronger of this era imo.
