The top three candidates for me would be Clarkson, Zach, or Kovy.
I know Marty and Clarkson routinely mess with each other. I get the feeling that Parise likes to bust Henrique's balls, and Sykora, Elias, and Zidlicky all have a playful relationship.
I'm willing to bet Kovy is the one responsible for a lot of the shenanigans. He's a veteran who isn't used to winning, and he's finally enjoying himself. You can see his humor in his interviews.
Boulton didn't make any huge errors that I noticed, but the line was visibly worse at sustaining offensive pressure and clearing the defensive zone. He just isn't a good puck possession player, even though he should be strong on the boards with his size.
my humble opinion is because Gionta has been playing good 2 way hockey lately when the games are do or die for albany. so he is stepping up well and is smart defensively and good on the forecheck - which is what Deboer says he wants from the 4th line. But he was called up for practice the other day and then went back down so i don't know if he will stay or not this time.

He's just too slow and not good enough on his skates to be anything more than a fighter at this point.

Gionta wouldn't be my first choice, but like I've been saying for a month now I would take him over Boulton. I like Zalewski better, and wouldn't mind seeing Tedenby. Point production is low for Gionta in the minors, but I aint looking for a 4th line like Josefson's before he was injured.
Still real happy for Sykora. People thought I was smoking crack saying he would be a 20 goal scorer before the season starter. He needs to come back next year. How people saying Tedenby replacing him next year is what needs to happen. That's even more ridiculous than someone saying Sykora would score 30 goals. I think Tedenby will be back, but I would hope it's not at the cost of Sykora. I think there is room for both. Like I said before replacing Sykora with Tedenby is like replacing Moose with Kinkaid.
Only way I would be cool with Sykora leaving is if it were on his own terms like his value went up, and he got offered money elsewhere. I think he would stay though. He's also helped Elias have his arguably second best season ever points wise, and even helped Zubrus have what might be his best season with the Devils.
But seriously, I know that Marty has been on a bit of a roll but Moose really deserves one last game. He's been a great goalie and an even nicer guy for us for the past 2 years. Tuesday's game may have been his last as a Devil.

I think it has more to do with Marty not going almost a week without playing and staying sharp. I for one hope moose is back next year as I doubt any of our young goalie prospects are truly ready but who knows.

I doubt Lou will go with a prospect next year to back up Marty. Marty went down the last two seasons with minor injuries. I don't know Kinkaid can take over. Also with the questionable defensive coverage too. Clemmensen did, but Clemmensen was more experienced all around, and played in about 30 NHL games before that season.
I'd say re sign Moose. It's stupid not to. I'm a little rattled by the UFA goalies this year, and I hope Moose don't re sign Clemmensen, or someone like Biron, or Turco or somebody. I doubt he would, but you never know. Turco is a bum, Biron, and Clemmensen aint as good as Hedberg.
Remember Hedberg is the only goaltender with 25 starts with 4 shutouts. He got 4 shutouts in 22 starts. Brian Elliott I believe got 4 shutouts by then, but Hedberg is second to only him. Hedberg knows the team, there won't be a need for transition, he's a fan favorite. If we mess up by re signing one of these other bums I think Hedberg will make another team very happy. I don't think he's ready to retire yet.
Speaking of Turco he's so horrible the Bruins called up that prospect Khudobin to play last night.
