He rises to the occasion, but people will still call him Kovalchoke and point to his 1-8 record in the playoffs like those 8 losses were his fault.
Even with the small sample size, I believe his playoff production is at about the same rate as his production in the regular season. Can't ask for much more than that, the overwhelming majority of players cannot raise their game in the playoffs past their regular season performance.
hey guys.. i was just curious.. how confident is everyone that devils will definetely beat panthers in round 1 if they play them.. i mean.. iunno i watched all the highlights between them.. and panthers can play against us.. im just realli worried.. i realli wanna see this team make the 2nd round atleast
It depends what team shows up. I'll let you know by the weekend when the regular season ends. Also interested to see how they look this last week of the regular season in these last 3 games.
If they show up, and don't take the Panthers lightly because they're not the Bruins they could win a series. If not they could get taken out in 5 or 6 games.

He had 6 point in 5 games with us, IIRC. I think he only had 1 point in his 4 games with the Thrashers but I'm not positive and don't feel like looking it up. Either way, 7 points in 9 games given the teams he's been on isn't too shabby.
Think they'll start Clemmensen some games? Not trying to be obsessed with him, but it's a valid question. Given his record against us. I don't think we've ever beaten him. I even remember him on the Florida feed after beating us more than once he's said something about feeling like he's playing his big brother, and that he's motivated to win, and play really good against his former team.
Do I think the Devils are capable of beating him? Hell yeah with a little bit of pressure! If they played like they played the last two games Dineen will wish he never started him, and embarrassed him like that. If we scored 3 on him in less than 2 periods Dineen would probably pull him, and throw in Jose to try to save face for Clemmensen, and spark his team a little bit. Not to knock him. He's not a bad goaltender at all, but he's really not as good as Brian Boucher let's be serious. He has a better team than Boucher has now.
I don't know what that guy's problem is. He has his good games, but when he plays us he makes himself look like a commodity that we should have never got rid of. He actually makes himself look like the Devils should have kept him, and made him starter.
It was suggested he had a chip on his shoulder. Only thing I can think of is he's mad cause he won all those games while Marty was out, and he was buried in the minors upon his return, and Weekes stayed up when clearly Clemmensen played better.

Exactly; give any player a large enough sample size in the postseason, and odds are his numbers there will bear a striking resemblance to his career averages. Look at Derek Jeter and Chipper Jones in baseball: each had enough AB's in October to match an entire season's worth of at bats, and, go figure, their numbers came out pretty close to their career regular season stats.
He'll get his chance this playoffs to perform. That feels good to say
This time around, he isn't expected to carry his line, and he isn't being played with linemates who don't know how to play with him. Definitely a better opportunity to succeed.
Not that it really matters, but the article on NHL.com predicts Read as a Calder nomination over Henrique. It would definitely be nice to see Henrique get a nomination even though he probably wont win
Read is 25. No way he should be in this discussion.
RNH is the flash for pure offensive punch. Lando wins it as most valuable to his team imo. Look at those hits and shots WOW.
Henrique should be up for Selke with those stats. He is the only player in our top 5 scoring with a positive +/- too. 7 minutes with 5 for fighting - Selke and Byng?
That is a really good picture. Read is barely in the lead in goals, shooting percentage isn't a great stat to base awards on, and GWG are pretty random unless they're OT specific. It's Landeskog's award, but Henrique was making a really good argument for about 60 games or so.

Right, as has RNH. And you could argue that the middle of the season was a bit of a lull for Landeskog. And RG made the point about Read.
It's just unrealistic to expect a kid to produce for an 82 game season. They've never played that much hockey in such a short time and they're playing against the best in the world. Up until recently, Henrique had played a very consistent game, whereas the other rookies were scoring in bunches. IMO, if you get rid of draft status and hype, it's a two-man race between Landeskog and Henrique, but the flare that goes with RNH is going to throw him into the conversation despite being, far and away, the most inconsistent of the potential nominees.
