I honestly think you could have dropped any team in the league (yes even the Oilers or the Blue Jackets) into the position that Dallas was in after that big 11 game point streak and they would have finished it off.

Dallas is the only team I've watched in this league to play with so little pride and so little effort.

Bring up Fraser and Sceviour as well. Scoreboard watch and root for Colorado to nab that 13th pick.

I absolutely hated Crawford but is it crazy to think he was better than Gully?

Y'know, it's not "over" yet, but it feels like it is.

And this one hurts more than the other years.

****ing hell, Dallas.

I'm actually pissed at the few fans still remaining. I wish every seat in the building was empty.

The Stars are going to need to make a huge splash in the offseason to sell tickets for next season.

The most frustrating about all this is the bull players like Ribs and Ott were spewing on Twitter before the game about Fans coming out to support them. You can't act entitled and like fans should come watch your product when you play like utter crap in the most important game of the season.

The fans came out these past few games. They gave their hearts back to the Stars. And this team let them down, again and again. Don't be surprised to see 7k attendance in October next year. They deserve it.

Well San Jose clearly staked their rightful claim to a playoff birth tonight and left no doubt as to who was the better team.

Hope Gaglardi was watching this one and won't tolerate any more of Nieuwendyk's dithering.

The team is just not good enough. Simple. It needs better players, more depth, to compete.

I think you can sell the new kids if you played them but only if the "vets" and 4th line detritus is gone too. If you move Ott, Robidas, Morrow and Ribiero getting back at least 2 good roster players plus Smith, Chiasson, Fraser, and Dillion next season they can talk about new blood and the future.

They absolutely cannot put the majority of this same roster out next season and expect it to sell.

Nashville will be a place where we can take points if we're up for it.. They've already on playoff-mode and they know they can't take any injuries..

But the focus HAS to be on and hopefully Dvorak can return some spark into the team..good night and **** sharks

No. There are no magical line combos that would creat talent.

I don't think so, they both added nothing of value to this team. I didn't see any difference between how the team has played over last season besides the fact that they won't even get up to give a decent effort on the PP.

Gulutzan is a minor league coach who has no business around the NHL.

I posted this in the General Talk thread but it belongs here too.

This team won't be as good as they need to be until Benn becomes a go to faceoff guy. He HAS to be a better than average faceoff guy in order to keep a guy like Burish off the ice in crunch time. That should be his number one area of improvement heading forward.

San Jose has Thornton, Pavelski, Coutoure they can put out up or down late in a game. All of them are good faceoff guys. This team has got to get to a point where it's best players are guys who can take faceoffs instead of relying on a lower line specialist with no offensive skill to speak of. Even if they keep Chiasson as a winger he should absolutely be keeping up with his faceoff duties.

Maybe so, but Scotty Bowman couldn't make a silk purse of out of this sow's ear.

Crawford can't create talent but even he might have eventually broken up our "1st" defense pairing of Robidas and Sourey. Ugh, so terrible. Would Burish have continued to get 2nd line minutes? Wouldn't he have ridden Benn into the ground? Any or all of the above would make him better.

Both Crawford and Gulutzan were not coaches who would light a fire under the team. Crawford was brought in to be that and decided to take a new passive approach. Neiwy decided to go in the wrong direction hiring a "nicer" player's coach.

This team, as constructed, needed a Tortrella or Laviollete. A hardass who would hold players accountable for their mistakes, mental laziness, and stupidity. The same problems have been going on for 3 years, and yet Niewy thought more coddling and a good player-coaching relationship would fix this team's mistakes. He failed to realize the sense of entitlement, laziness, and bad hockey IQ that has pervaded the lockerroom the past few years.

Hopefully the old core is jettisoned during the offseason and we can actually field a young roster that can feed off a player's coach. Since we know Gullty isn't going anywhere.

The league worst PP, league worst penalty discipline and league worst effort are simply not excusable. No coach in any decent organization would keep his job after this sort of season.
