Weber is gone for at least 1 game.

The NHL will need to make a statement that you can not grab a guy's head and slam it into the glass in a deliberate attempt to injure.

Just no way around that one.

Just watched the entire Detroit game on tape delay.

Goose had a strong game. He got the lucky goal of course, but he was really dominant on draws, and doing well on the PK. All the big key faceoffs I saw he won.

I'm glad to see him gone for his sake. He's that "last subtle piece" that might push a really solid team over the edge. On the Sabres, his value is kind of lost.

I taped that game and the Philly game. Depending on how I feel after the VAN game, I'll watch the beginning of one of those two others, finishing tomorrow and watching the third one in the morning while working.

Watch the Philly game! It was much better all in all.

Ok, I will. Thanks. A few buddies said as much, too, so I'll do that.

Weber? Maybe a game.

Seriously, that's worse than Bertuzzi, that's like... I dunno, Spartacus stuff.

Burrows is such a tool. I loved when Richards lit him up.

Not that it's defensible, but the .gif looks much worse than the replays on TV or how it looked in real time.

Still, Weber should get 3-ish games for that. It's as disgusting an act as I've ever seen in the NHL (right up there with Brashear and Bertuzzi), but the violence wasn't there. Weber did it, and he did it intentionally; it'd be hard to argue that. But in real time, it's not as malicious as it looks in the .gif.

As far as the Weber play is concerned, the punch was the worst. Everyone keeps focusing on the head-slam, but seriously, I see practically no force behind it whatsoever. The sheer fact that he attempted to do it is reprehensible, beyond explanation, and worthy of a one-game suspension in its own right. But the punch actually had some real force behind it

The lengths Terry Pegula has to go to in order to still root for the Penguins.....

I doubt Weber gets anything, but he should get at least a game for that.

Gaustad looked great. Lucky bounce on his goal, but he killed penalties like a boss and won huge draws all night for the Preds.

If Helm is out for any length of time from that cut it will be bad news for the Wings.

Briere taking it to the Pens... offsides and all.

Both were good games. Missed the LA/VAN game though I might catch it today at some point.

Just think about the center depth that Philly has had over the past 2 years (obviously not all at once):
Mike Richards
Jeff Carter
Daniel Briere
Claude Girioux
Sean Couturier
Brayden Schenn

**** them.

Hopefully that will be us in a few seasons...

Watching Richards play for the Kings last night brought back to me how astonishing it was that they traded him. It's worked fine so far for both teams, but how many teams trade away clutch playoff performers like they did? Richards has 50 points in 63 playoff games.

I don't like Philly, but I give them credit for some gutsy moves last off season.

I only saw a couple replays, but I wonder if the elbow to the back of Weber's head mitigated the punishment? Not to say that its ok to push his head into the glass like that.

Capgeek tweeted that, given Weber's $7.5m salary, it's akin to someone making $50,000 being fined $16. Not even a parking ticket.

As Damien Cox pointed out: $20,000 fine for saying mean things about the Penguins, and $2,500 for turnbuckling a guy's head at the end of the game when you don't have to serve a penalty and could do serious damage to his health.

The NHL, ladies and gentlemen!
