Add Denny Urban to the WorSharks list, the team just announced his PTO was changed to a SPC.

With Calgary signing Danny Taylor, the Abbotsford Heat have brought in and signed G Tyson Sexsmith. No word on whether it's a PTO or SPC.

Quote:
Abbotsford Heat General Manager Jay Feaster announced today the signing of 23-year-old goaltender Tyson Sexsmith.

Sexsmith played 34 games with the Worcester Sharks (AHL) last season with a 2.33 GAA and a 0.916 save percentage. The Mission, British Columbia resident who grew up in Priddis, Alberta has played four games in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Metallurg Novokuznetsk this season.
http://www.abbotsfordheat.com/news/r...article_id=388

I was amazed someone didn't sign him last year as he had a good season in the AHL in 2011-12.

Well he played a few games in the KHL earlier this season.

Also, it seems like he isn't with the Heat anymore...

@BradZiemer
Looks like G Tyson Sexsmith's stay in Abbotsford will be a short one. He's being released to pursue opportunity in Italian League.

-----
-Brett Gallant was released from AHL SPC and signed to a one year contract by the Islanders

-Bobby Raymond was signed by Charlotte a few weeks (Sorry for missing that one!)
http://theahl.com/stats/transactions...&f_team_id=384

-I'll also add Luca Caputi to the list. At the start of the season, Caputi was a RFA (at the NHL level) and he signed a AHL contract with Norfolk in order to play in the AHL. As of now, he still is under contract with Norfolk and it doesn't seem like he'll get a NHL contract this year.

I just read that! I wonder if he was just in town for a visit and signed to be a back-up with Taylor being recalled, because it's the same Italian team he was rumored to be with before he played for Abbotsford that he's returning to. Who will be Abbotsford's back-up now, though?

If I had to do a bet (although a very meaningless one ), I would put my money on Andrew Engelage.

He is currently playing in Utah (Calgary's ECHL affiliate) and he attended Calgary's training camp in 2011.

Add Adam Comrie for the WorSharks list, they tweeted his SPC earlier today.

Finally they signed Grant Rollheiser to a PTO although Sexsmith was still backing up Brust tonight.

Rollheiser played 19 games in the ECHL with Utah.

-----
According to theahl.com transaction page, Brett Skinner has signed with Grand Rapids (however they forgot (?) to mention that he was released from his PTO)

Skinner was among the best offensive AHL dmen a few years ago. He was chosen to playe in the AHL All-Star game in 2007-2008. Skinner played the last two years in Europe. Prior to being signed by Grand Rapids, he was playing with the Allen Americans in the CHL.

Have some questions about three players. All three are not on NHL deals, are not listed as having signed AHL contracts, but they've all played quite a few games for their teams, would they still be on PTOs or have they signed SPCs?
-Evan Brophey (34 with Portland)
-Rod Pelley (31 games with Norfolk)
-Taylor Vause (30 games with Texas)

I've been wondering this as well. Wasn't it announced some time late last season that Vause had signed an AHL deal for this season?

I don't know either. Theahl.com used to update player's contract status once they played 25 games on a PTO contract or remained 25 games on the roster under a PTO contract. However, it seems like they don't make all the proper updates anymore.

To add to your list, I thought Tyler Ruegsegger signed a SPC with Abbotsford during the summer. However, according to theahl.com he was released from his PTO and signed to a SPC after he played his 40th game of the season.
http://theahl.com/stats/transactions...&f_team_id=379

Other "weird" cases are Brett Lebda who played 27 games with Rockford before being released and Dan Ellis who spent half of the season on Charlotte's roster.

So to sum it up, I would believe that Pelley and Brophey either signed a 2nd PTO or they are signed to a AHL contract, however no info was released about it.

What I'll do is that I'll wait until the AHL trade deadline, if those players are still playing with the same team by that time, I'll add them to the list.
------

In Vause's case, his contract's situation is very clear.

Taylor Vause playing last game of his 2nd PTO on Fri. Must either be signed to SPC or released afterwards. Think he will be signed.
His first PTO was signed at the start of the season and his second one was signed on December 12.
http://theahl.com/stats/transactions...&f_team_id=380

-------------
In other news, Kevin Clark left St.John's to sign with a team in Germany. He was released from his SPC by the Ice Caps.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forward Scott Campbell has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

Campbell, 26, signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Sound Tigers on Dec. 19 after starting the 2012-13 campaign with the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers. In 16 games with the Sound Tigers, the second-year pro has two goals and four assists, including the game-winning goal in the Sound Tigers’ 4-2 win over Binghamton on Jan. 19.

The Oklahoma City Barons have signed defenseman Nathan Deck to a two-way American Hockey League contract, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Deck, 22, joined the Barons December 3 and had an immediate impact, recording an assist on his first shift of his first AHL game. With the Barons, he has scored six points (1-5-6) in 25 games. Before joining the Barons, the 5-11, 185-pounder from Sedley, Saskatchewan has amassed 43 points (12-31-43) in 79 games with the Stockton Thunder over two seasons.

Have no idea if this is a SPC/PTO, but...

Quote:
Abbotsford Heat general manager Jay Feaster announced today the recall of forward Mitch Wahl from the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) and the signing of forward Andy Bohmbach.
Quote:
Bohmbach, a University of Wisconsin graduate, has compiled 177 points in 167 games in the ECHL over three professional seasons. Bohmbach has served as alternate captain of the Trenton Titans this season and has posted 20 goals and 21 assists in 45 games. Bohmbach was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and was named to the ECHL All-Star Game in 2010-11.

Can anyone confirm, if a player is assigned to an ECHL team, does he have to be on an AHL contract (SPC)? A player who is on a PTO or ATO in the AHL can't be assigned to the ECHL can he?

Yes! Only players with AHL contract or NHL contract can be assigned to the ECHL. Players on PTO have to be released in order to return to the ECHL or CHL (Central hockey league).

Quote:
The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have signed defenseman Matthew Register to a one-year American Hockey League contract and have loaned Register to the ECHL’s Ontario Reign, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
http://www.monarchshockey.com/news.php?nid=4646

Not sure what Manchester sees in this player. Judging by his stats, he seems like a very average CHL player. I don't know why they would want to have some kind affiliation with this guy. It's also weird especially considering the fact that the Monarchs are reluctant to give out AHL contracts. They only have 4 players signed this year (including Register), they had two last year and one in 2010-2011.
---------------------------
Lake Erie could sign Daniel Maggio to a SPC. He is currently signed to a PTO
Quote:
The American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters have informed the Komets that defenseman Daniel Maggio will probably not be returned to Fort Wayne.

Players on NHL entry level contracts may be assigned to the ECHL. On subsequent NHL contracts the player can refuse assignment to the ECHL.

John Negrin was loaned from Chicago to Lake Erie. Except for a one game stint with the Wolves, Negrin spent all the season with Kalamazoo in the ECHL.

Also, Dallas Jackson signed a SPC with Bridgeport.

According to theahl.com transactions page, Evan Brophey was signed to a SPC on 18/02/13

Also found out that Jon Sim was signed to a SPC on 02/08/13, approximately one week after signing a PTO with Adirondack.

Actually they released him from his PTO and signed him to a SPC.

Seems like MacIntyre may have beaten Owuya for a job with the Marlies.
