This is hardly new news. I loved MM's comments. He's never afraid to speak his mind...
People are human. Some get pissed off and hold grudges. Many of us have and likely will again. There are lots of other things to get mad at Wang over, so I'm not gonna worry about this.
anyone see the comment from the asshat "nyi fan central"? basically deflecting attention from wang by bringing up botta and crapping all over the writer...must work for chuckles.
Neil Smith agreed to work under Wang's gm by committee approach, then after being hired ,he balked at those agreed upon work conditions.Wang fired him ,knowing there would be a huge public backlash.
Lafontaine objected to Smith being fired and quit.I bet Wang had hoped Lafontaine would stay on and help stop the pr backlash. It didn't happen.Too bad there are still bitter feeling, but the isles have a lot more to worry about then bitter feelings between Wang,Snow and Lafontaine.
Even Wang himself knows that he messed up with Smith. The proof is how the GM by committee nonsense has been broken up for years.
Frankly it's just sad what's going on with LaFontaine & the Islanders. It's one thing if he & Wang don't see eye to eye, but to basically erase him from Islanders history? Just petty & pathetic. But that's our NY Islanders for you.
This is why the many rumors every year that LaFontaine will get a group to buy NYI are as dumb as can be. Wang would never sell to him or anybody he's associated with.
As much as I despise Wang for his cap-circumventing payroll and his wacky personal decisions, at least that can be somewhat defended. This on the other hand cannot. It just shows what a petty, insecure madman that Wang is. It's the off-ice treatment of people like Lafontaine, Botta and Jaffe which is the reason I will never support this jerk. And I know Milbury is just showing loyalty to the one man stupid enough to give him a job for so long, but he should just shut the f up.
And Wang has surprised who? Hey, at least Patty isn't in jail like Wang's subordinates at CA. I wonder why no one in Nassau or Murray can't get a deal done with him. I can just picture him pouting in the room when they try and discuss the LHP. Think he threw stuff on the floor or just held his breath?
What a pathetic little man.
With all the bad in Uniondale, you'd think he'd embrace one of the most genuinely inspirational, 100% naturally nice humans in all of sporting history (IMHO) and try and link Patty's kindness and generosity to this sinking ship content with burning lifeboats on deck every year?
Instead we try and sell free hot dogs when Patty is trying to make cancer kids happy.
Did I mention I don't give Wang one penny of my money since 2001? I don't support his actions. Anyone here still support this man's actions financially?
I'm surprised guys such as Yashin and DP get so much flak for being buddy-buddy with Wang but when Milbury defends him he's speaking his mind.
Milbury is complete trash.
MM may be a lousy GM, but he's candid and always has been. He doesn't give you a phoney bunch of talking points. What you see is what you get. I've always liked that trait about him regardless of if I agreed with the words he was saying.

Because it clearly didn't work. The GM had to have more autonomy. Having said this, the business structure was not a surprise to Smith. He knew what he signed up for.
i cant help but think that, even though i wasnt thrilled with his hiring, that this team might be in a much better position now with Neil Smith and La Fontan as an advosor., but who knows.
its so dumb to try cut patty out of the isles history. he is too big a part of it
i'll always remember the easter epic, i didnt have cable and used to watch all the isles games at my friends house, for some reason i couldnt go over to watch this game. so i had to call sports phone for results, lol
i called about 100 times that night and still remeber the recording telling me that the game was finally over and that pat lafontaine had scored for the islanders to win the series, had to wait until the next days news to see footage of the goal.
