24 points in 54 games in the KHL? I guess not everything is Terry Murray's fault after all

He also sucked worse with the Rangers than with the Kings. It's sad to see. He's still younger, too! He'll turn 30 later this year. He should be in his prime the past few years. I for one, don't miss him. He was so frustrating. I remember having such hope his rookie season and first few years. I just waited for him to be the dominant player we all thought he could be. I guess it will never happen.

His drop off is almost Cheechoo-like...

Maybe playing through groin injuries catches up to players? It's too bad, Frolov was magic when he was on his game. One of my favorite players to watch, pure domination along the boards.

Fro was dominating when Demitra was here and the year therafter.

That was the best I've seen him play. Its unfair to say that he has always been a water carrier.

It seemed like his offensive development stunted, then regressed. His confidence evaporated and never recovered.

Definitely. Playing through a nagging injury that doesn't have time to heal catches up to you. Look at his skating stance, too; he used to generate so much power just going wide-stance and gliding on his edges. taking a pounding from NHL defenseman in that stance with groin injuries is gonna wear you down sooner or later.

Still really like and miss Fro.

One of the most frustrating guys ever to watch. I don't like players that have the skill set to be great (but lack the drive).

Fro......

Amen. Wish he was still on the team. I always thought he was the reason we had a great 3rd line. Guy made Simmonds and Zus look better then what they actual were. What's a better complement then that? Guy made his line better. No one on the team can hold on the puck like he could. That alone was worth it's weight in gold. Add 20 goals on that and he's a good player.

I'm not all that sure about the injuries. I've no idea if he has some sorta of chronic hip problem now. I hope not. I hold out hope that he turns into our re-salvage UFA signing in the off-season. If he can get back to what he was in the last season he played for the Kings he'd be better then anyone we have on the bottom-6.

Frolov never turned into what he could have been but I'll always like him. Guy was the first Kings prospect in nearly a decade to actually live mostly up to the hype. He was the first guy we had in the HF era that we could point to and say, look we've got something there, and it was true.

Was one of my favorite Kings, even when he wasn't playing up to his potential, he found ways to produce 50+ points. If he put more effort into his game, he would've been more of a 65-70 point scoring winger. Seems like the groin issues really slowed down his game over the years. Probably the most enigmatic player to put on a Kings uniform. It's a shame to see his career dwindle to where it is now, and he's still fairly young.

If he only scored that breakaway goal against Loungo in the playoffs things would have been very different for him. I loved Frolov, he was a guy like Purcell with much more overall skill and talent that was playing in the wrong system at the wrong time. Going to the Rangers under Torterella to be closer to his homeboy Sean Avery proved disastrous.

I was a huge fan of fro until he shrank in the playoffs. He had some breakaways and completely botched them. So frustrating.

I don't think his skill set was really all that great. He had no shot at all -- all his goals were scored in the paint on rebounds. For all his puck handling domination along the boards he would get very little out of it (passing wise). I miss him though.

Who was his center most of the time? I can't really remember. I know he occasionally played with Kopi (Fropitar).

He had his best success playing with Craig Conroy and Pavol Demitra. When he started though, his center was Derek Armstrong. Played with Kopitar at times (with various sets of wingers ranging from O'Sullivan to Brown), and in his last couple of seasons he played mostly with Handzus.

I'm a Kings fan since the '80s but back than it was hard for me to catch some games. I was a scoreboard fan until 2000.

I've never seen a player miss so many breakaways. For some odd reason Fro also had a lot of breakaways during his stint here but he wasnt cherry picker.
