Either way, pretty smart no-risk pickup on their end. 1 year, $600,000
Yeah. Good signing for the Caps. Always loved the guy. Hope he can have a good year.

Top six roll signing on for $600K, that's interesting.

I doubt that MOJO is much much better player than Wolski. Whoops we even forgot about Ribs, thx TMV. Hmm I guess they're going to put Mojo at the wing?

Ribiero is their #2 center.

He's on his fourth team in about two and a half years. To my knowledge he's been benched by every coach he's had in the NHL. What can any team expect out of him at this point?

Eh, if it weren't for the history of him on this team, I'd take him and throw him on a wing on a lineup full of Backstrom, Ovy, Ribiero, Green, etc for $600K. Might as well, he had/has ppg potential, could be he posts up 50 points on that lineup while taking away some of the defensive coverage.

I like the move.

McPhee's annual dumpster dive. Good times. Wolski and Perreault will likely split top 6 minutes.

Hoping the guy puts it together. My girlfriend is all excited because he's Polish. I don't have the heart to tell her he's a project player.

Yeah, but huge upside for zero risk whatsoever. Nobody should actually expect anything, but he could turn in a good year.

Haha wow, that was very well done. Sadly it won't get as many hits and be the crazy sensation that it would be if it was for some NFL team.

Liles is one of their better pickups for what he brings and his value IMO.

I wasn't as hardcore into the NHL before the last lockout, but were the initial stages of negotiation leaked? I was thinking it could just be a negotiating tactic by the NHLPA to turn public opinion against the owners. For all I know, it's a reasonable first offer.

Every single one of that demands favours the owners in a pretty substantial manner, quite frankly this 1st offer is borderline ridiculous.

Every year since the lockout the cap has risen, yet after 7 years they want to reduce the players revenue?

Just like 7 years ago, I'll be for the players. Go get'um Fehr!

I've been one to scoff at people raising the possibility of another lock-out or even a delay to the start of next season, likening them to a beat dog who just expects another kick. But after reading what the league wants, I'm not feeling so self-assured.

Obviously you start off high/low when bargaining, but the owners have really gone to some extremes. I figured they'd start with a 50/50 revenue proposal, then be glad to get it back down to 54%. By starting with 46%, that tells me they'll go no higher than 50. They got everything they wanted in the last CBA, and now that the league is making pretty good money, they figure they want a bigger piece of the pie that they cut.

Screw them.

I'm all for the players giving up a few percentage points of profit for the good of the league as a whole (read: teams that are having a hard time with the bills), but that's too much. It just comes off as greedy. Not to mention, that's the stick, where's the carrot? No arbitration? Another stick. 5 year limit on contracts? I like that, but it is still a stick. 10 years until UFA status? Big stick. Longer entry-level contracts? Intriguing, but also a stick.

Hopefully the owners were just playing a wild hand, seeing what might go over, and that their realistic goals aren't nearly so draconian. But the fact that they're starting from where they are doesn't give me much hope for fair concessions.

Yeah, I definitely thought that both sides would agree another lockout would sink this puppy. Apparently not. Those offering points are ludicrous. Every single one of them screws over the players.

It's just the first offer. Why wouldn't you aim high?
