Fail tank. But in all seriousness, none of these wins may mean anything to the team next year, but I sure hope they do. They make me feel at least a little optimistic. I feel really good about our future and actually being able to make a call up from Houston for a Zucker, Bulmer, Coyle, Phillips, or Larsson instead of Peters, Ortmeyer, etc.
We'll be better next year. We do need to get someone to play behind Koivu though. Hopefully it can be Granlund, but I wouldn't count on that. I just think he's going to be a wing in the NHL.

We'll just need Galchenyuk or Grigorenko to fall to us then.
I have a weird feeling (based on nothing) that we are going to be surprised at how NHL-ready Larsson is next year.
He could step in right away, I think a lot of our younger guys will be able to do that right away. I just wonder where he's going to play in the NHL. A center would be great as I outlined in my last post.
That'd be awesome if one of Grig or Gal fell to us, but if we're sitting #5-#7, I think we go dman.

I get the feeling he could step in on this team right now. But I think we want to keep him as a center, so he'll probably stay in Houston until Koivu/Cullen/Brodziak are banged up. I know some people have Coyle/Phillips as our first center call-up, but I have my eye on Larsson.
I think GopherState also missed a very important part of the article.

When you know, 'OK, this is a team that was winning, they lose some players, now they get their best player back and they've started to win,' free agents will know that we're close, they'll know this group has character, that this was a group that kept fighting, and it's the kind of culture you can win with. So I can understand part of it. But it can also lure free agents. Its not all about the draft.
I think right there, Yeo just said we're going to go out and see if we can get a big fish in free agency. We're done playing around, we're serious now. In my opinion, him saying this was the highlight of the article. I think we actually have a shot at some big names now, and we aren't just looking to rebuild through the draft.
Did anyone else get a little disappointed that Russo basically said that we won't be bringing Lats back next season? I just have this feeling that his injuries are behind him and I can just picture him being a beast for whatever team he ends up on next..

Haven't read this particular blog, but Russo has never sourced his Lats comments. It genuinely sounds like Russo doesn't want to bring Lats back, not anything he's actually heard through the grapevine or has rationale behind.
It sucks, but Lats just can't seem to stay healthy. It's probably just speculation on Russo's part, but I wouldn't mind seeing him come back, he was our best player for a lot of the year before he went down.

I think I'm one of the guys that are highest on Larsson atm, he has looked so good the games i've watched and the reports I've gotten. And I do agree with you, very mature and responsible player with alot of heart.

Didn't know a whole month qualified as a lot of the year.

Agreed. After the FBJ, I think Larsson is the next closest prospect to a lock for the Wild next season.
It's nice to see this team winning even if it doesn't matter at this point. It usually means they will have a good season start next season to me. Maybe it has nothing to do but I still believe it.
Not as much as you'd think. The last game he played the Wild were first in the NHL.
Yes, he came back too early for 3 games after missing a month and the Wild were still winning the whole time...not sure where I'm the one who's mistaken here.

Yep. I really hope they can get him back.
We'll be a better team next year, but I doubt we can make the playoffs without lats.

no one is surprised. I was told he was the most NHL ready guy we had last year. including Scandella and Granlund. He's that responsible and he wasn't waif-like like Brodin at the time. TBH I don't expect a lot out of him in the terms of numbers, ever, but from the sound of it they expect he'll be the guy to step in and suffer the least from the learning curve in jumping leagues.
not that it has much relevance but is there an easy way to figure out Latendresses points per game...points per every game he was contracted for. As I brought up earlier: if you think there is a good chance that the guy is going to be a PPG player for only 20 games you're going to let him slide in favor of the guy you expect a half point per game from for a complete season.
