/history buff.
You're right, but being part of the USSR between 1940 and 1990 trumps that.

And prior to 1918, they were part of the Russian Empire for a bit less than two centuries.

History maniac... plus philatelist when younger...

So he is signed with khl right now. I am not sure if we still hold his rights. Sounds like he can be had by anyone.

Usually plays as a winger. Komarov is very dynamic player. Good skater, great forechecker, decent hands. Will play for Finland at WHC, PK specialist, bit of a pest but doesn't fight.

Comparison: Smaller version of Jarkko Ruutu with better wheels. Great 4th line winger for Leafs.

Another low risk move - why not.

Figure it would be a move where he comes over and if he doesn't crack the roster he'll head back to the KHL. That is, if he even signs.

Not really, free agent status would change in the offseason if it did.

Pretty sure he's still Leaf property until his KHL contract expires, which is at the end of next season.

Even that they didn't sign him to an ELC? I thought that they have a time limit when to sign otherwise they re-enter the draft. I thought he would be a UFA but perhaps it's different that there is no transfer agreement with the KHL.

He signed a 2 year contract extension with the KHL in May 2011, which I believe extends his rights as well. I could be wrong but that's the way I understand it.

Ross-Kadri-Biggs

OHHHHH BABY!

It would be like the EXTREMELY LITE version of

Tucker-Gilmour-Clark and Andreychuk hybrid?

Memories of Johan Frogren or Alex Kudashov or Richard Wallin. Unremarkable players brought across the ocean to fill bottom of the lineup roles. From what I've seen about him, I wouldn't call him an agitator as much as just dirty.

Leaf fans are easily distracted by fringe players rumors instead of concentrating on a top 3 pick

Wait this team can not even loose right

Early first round picks just don't get the same kind of chances as third-round picks.

Maybe not much of a pest but gritty with size tyler biggs and hopefully we can get tom wilson and we would have a lot of size coming down the pipe

He has both Finnish and Russian citizenships, but has always played for Finland. He speaks fluent swedish, finnish and russian and good english IIRC.
