He could have signed him two years ago. The fact is Leafs have zero character, if you think about it and besides the weak goaltending they got that really hurt them down the stretch. No guys that want to make it hard for the other team, team that successfull need guys that want to piss the other team off with there skill and than top it off with knocking them down. Its not all about skill in this league. The leaf grinders like Rosehill are useless and not even close to what guys like Cooke or Avery should i say offer to a team. Armstrong started the first couple games of the seasonw well and with injuries became quite useless, and he is the only guy that when he want playing at a higher level can be thrown in the mix of toughness, character and skill. Its funny this is what Burke MO is but yet they have the most mellow team on planet earth.
I rather have zero character than whatever character Avery is going to bring with him. There's a reason he's been kicked around and is where he is!
I woudl take Rosehill a thousand times over before I'd take Avery!
He was the Leafs' leading scorer in the 1963–64, 1966–67 and 1969–70 seasons, and the team's top goal scorer in 1970–71 and 1972–73. Keon was considered one of the fastest skaters in the NHL, and one of the best defensive forwards of his era. He would usually play against the opposing team's top centre, and developed a reputation for neutralizing some of the league's top scorers. In 1970–71, he scored eight shorthanded goals, setting an NHL record.
I wanted him to come over last year, but this year would be good. Brad Ross could probably learn some tips from Komarov, imagine having two extremely feisty agitators in ross and komarov in a year or two? We'll need a guy who can knock some guys out because they'll pissing everybody off.
bozak to 3rd line and insert top C or top 3 player
Agreed and its hard for me to believe that Nazem Kadri does not have a spot on this lineup come next year unless dealt as part of a package for said top line centre. Buy your Marlie playoff tickets everybody!
Gotta love the comments talking about how signing players like Carrick, Komarov, Abbott, Ross, etc. is just adding to our 3rd line depth. Players can go higher than their thought ceiling, and others can fall lower. Adding to AHL talent as well as possible NHL talent for years to come is definitely important, whether or not Komarov would ever play in the NHL anyways.
