Komarov has an NHL clause in his contract according to Finnish newspaper Iltalehti.

And to bigfinn, as many have already told here, Komarov has both Finnish and Russian nationality but has always represented Finland and it's what he calls his homeland too.

And what comes to his playing style and skills, he's much like Jarkko Ruutu with much better puck-handling skills and shot. I could describe him also as a poor man's Steve Downie.

Komarov maybe has NHL clause in his contract was the exact text in Iltalehti. Anyhow, Leafs organisation knows it better because they are after him.

Komarov is a pest, but he rarely fights. He`s just not a good fighter even compared to Jarkko Ruutu. Very sound defensively and has decent vision and hands.

Its not all about skill in this league. The leaf grinders like Rosehill are useless and not even close to what guys like Cooke or Avery should i say offer to a team. Armstrong started the first couple games of the seasonw well and with injuries became quite useless, and he is the only guy that when he want playing at a higher level can be thrown in the mix of toughness, character and skill. Its funny this is what Burke MO is but yet they have the most mellow team on planet earth.
I rather have zero character than whatever character Avery is going to bring with him. There's a reason he's been kicked around and is where he is!

I woudl take Rosehill a thousand times over before I'd take Avery!

Rosehill >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>1000X Avery!

Euro is usually more up to date on bio.

Played for Moscow a low scoring team. Top scorer had 12, Leo had 11 in 7 less games.

I wanted him to come over last year, but this year would be good. Brad Ross could probably learn some tips from Komarov, imagine having two extremely feisty agitators in ross and komarov in a year or two? We'll need a guy who can knock some guys out because they'll pissing everybody off.

Agreed and its hard for me to believe that Nazem Kadri does not have a spot on this lineup come next year unless dealt as part of a package for said top line centre. Buy your Marlie playoff tickets everybody!

Gotta love the comments talking about how signing players like Carrick, Komarov, Abbott, Ross, etc. is just adding to our 3rd line depth. Players can go higher than their thought ceiling, and others can fall lower. Adding to AHL talent as well as possible NHL talent for years to come is definitely important, whether or not Komarov would ever play in the NHL anyways.

Looks like this guy would add: speed, grit, heart, defensive acumen and an adequate offensive game to be a great bottom 6 forward. Does he play C or W?

The fact that he played for Finland in World Championships should help you with that question...

Yes. Leo was 4 years old when his family moved to Finland. That might have something to do why he is representing Finland.

Komarov has 2 goals in 2 games in KHL finals and looks a pest out there.

Didn't Leafs lose his rights? Hoping Ducks get him.

And about the NHL clause I'm pretty sure Leo has it cause NHL has always been his dream/goal.

Komarov is a cult player in his club: fan favourite.

Love the idea, looks like just the kind of player we need. Someone with a bit of heart who wants to play in the show.
