Mike Milbury may be a bit of a meat-head, but I don't think he should have apologized for his comments. It seems like every other day now, the media features a new person forced to issue mea culpas for offering an opinion that deviated off the beaten path. People are too sensitive.

Milbury is such a goof, I mean an idiot like him should be very quiet, or people will start pointing out some of the crap he was involved with as a player ( not that he was much of one ) and as a coach, and boy as a GM he was maybe the worst GM in the business, ever....

What a blowhard that guy is...I am sure Bettman gave him a call and a nudge on this one...

Not really sure why this is but the apology is even more annoying than the comments were.

Also he is a manchild

Who "forced" him to do anything, and how?

I honestly don't understand how Isles fans don't just gag up whatever they've eaten that day when they even see Milbury's face. You guys would have been in the playoffs two years ago if it weren't for that moron.

Chris Nilan's spoken about Milbury in the past, referring to him as a faux tough guy, and he was actually more of a rat than anything. Their nickname for him was "Mary Milbury"

This is whats wrong with the nhl, the refs and idiot announcers want to be the stars. Why's Milbury have a job still? Funny to see the big bully Milbury backdown so quick. What a wimp.

The article implies that he apologized to the Penguins organization as a whole and not Crosby himself. It may have been the skirt comment that NBC thought was over the line.

Milbury just proved he wears a skirt and is a coward by apologizing.

After what he did to the Islanders franchise, how he ever got a job again in hockey doing anything is beyond me.

It'd be like an idiot nuclear physicist continuously making egregious mistakes which led to a city getting nuked via plant meltdown and then someone in the energy industry hiring the guy again.

Was Milbury sans skirt when he apologized?

It is amazing how many Crosby haters would sell their soul for him to be on their team. Crosby is a box office item and the league is protecting the business end of things. Crosby in the Stanley Cup final represents ratings folks. Crosby is the only hockey player a casual fan knows by name and will tune in. Most don;t care about the Seden twins or Chara or Richards. Wthout Crosby, as Mario put it, " it is a garage league". He sells tickets, sells the game and puts money in the player pockets. Milbury, Berube and Melrose can;t play in the NHL as it exists today. Marginal hacks who were hanging on for physical rough stuff reasons. Who cares what those knucleheads say.

Because they're not the poster-child for the league? With everything Milbury has said, it's really sad that this one needs an apology.

Really would like to know the background story behind this apology....

Crosby protected on and off the ice. Just proves Mike likes to cash his checks, not that he was wrong about Crosby.

Milbury is in idiot (generally speaking) but if he believes something there's no reason to strongarm him into apologizing for it. And yeah, this does make me feel the NHL and the tertiary components of the league are protecting Crosby, which really grates.

Guy is a moron. Not long ago he was talking about how he liked the "spice" in Crosby's game, then Crosby is a punk, then he apologizes for calling Crosby a punk.

I run to my bathroom and throw up whenever I see him on the national broadcasts.

First he was just an ***hole. Now he is an ***hole and wimp.

I am all in favour of anything that gets this guy blacklisted from the media.

Milbury figured issuing an apology was the only was to get in the headlines for a 2nd day. The guy has zero integrity and is all about self-promotion even if it casts him as a fool, the only part he knows how to play.
