Neither are Flynn and Bailey, but they're still playing, as did Sydlowski and now Fienhage. Catanacci is not playing tonight, probably didn't get there in time. Knapp is the backup.

I think there are loopholes and workarounds teams can use.

Catenacci and Knapp can play AFAIK:

Teams may also add signed draft choices and players signed to amateur tryout contracts, provided that their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

Both contracts are apparently league minimum ($525k), per Renaud Lavoie.
Seems unlikely to me but Lavoie is usually really good with contract stuff.

Thanks, I didn't check CapGeek because I was on my phone and I hate the mobile version.

Those numbers are obviously incorrect right now though, as they don't pass the sniff test.
The signing bonuses are not valid without some performance bonuses because they are >10% of their compensation in each year.
Same goes for Gauthier-Leduc and Sundher, so it'll probably be a while before they are corrected.

The least a player can make on one is $105k ($35k minor league minimum x 3) and the average player is likely to make $150-180k even if they don't appear in an NHL game.
That amount can easily double if they get signing bonuses of any kind.

Both of these players will probably make like $3-5k for their time in Rochester this year, so they'd be leaving a bunch of guaranteed money on the table if they didn't have ELCs.

Numbers per TBN:

Quote:
The Sabres have agreed to terms with forward Dan Catenacci on a three-year entry level contract and goaltender Connor Knapp on a two-year entry-level contract. Both take effect next season and both players joined Rochester on Tuesday on amateur tryouts. Catenacci got three years at $605,000 per season while Knapp's two years are at $595,000 per season.

Most entry-level contracts we've reported recently do not include performance bonuses. If they show as zero, check back later for updates.

For these contracts, base salaries, signing bonuses and AHL salaries are final -- only performance bonuses are TBD.

Do these minor signings have anything to do with Pegula as our new owner? Or did previous ownership sign players such as these? I just started following this team/prospects really in depth this year. Are these signings standard practice or something more due to our new ownership?

Catenacci to a degree because they still would have held his rights until next year. Pre-Pegula they may have waited until next season to sign him as opposed to doing it now.

Knapp's college season (and career) was over so him being signed isn't that unusual.

Both of these players were our draft picks, so signing them is to be expected.
