Obviously a product of the defensive system in which his team plays.

35 stops and the 2nd period isn't even done yet.

Not tonight. It's been mostly Smith. Team in front of him isn't playing well at all.

No surprise that LA (Quick) and Phoenix (Smith) feature, yes, 'defense-only' lineups.

I love Mike Smith. I think he's having a fantastic season, and not because of the Coyotes' system. It's certainly a factor, but not the main one.

Good GOD who cares if it's boring or not? It's defense-only and there's no contesting it. Cheers.

LOL, I don't care. I enjoy watching my team on the ice, and the games are exciting to me. I like watching the Sedins get locked down. It brings me joy.

The lock down boring team has given up 39 shots through 2 periods to the Blue Jackets.
The team is playing like crap in front of him, this one is all Smith.

Mike Smith is on another plane of existence right now. Something like 200 minutes of shutout hockey.

I thought he was going to be a great goalie when I first saw him early in his career, but then injuries or something derailed that for a while. Looks like he really got his career back on track this season. Good for him.

What's the record for most saves in a row without giving up a goal?

i remember watching him a couple of years ago... you could see the ability/potential but he was notorious for softies and venturing. he still has consistency issues but has improved a fair bit in that regard

Well, the defense is for sure an important part of it, just look at how he played for us with a weak defense in front of him.

52 saves is the most in team history and there's still a buck left in the game.

I believe the 54 shots is a franchise record for the CBJ, too.
His eighth shutout ties a team record.
219:59 shutout streak is second longest in history behind Brian Boucher's epic run.

Looks like you got it in there twice. Might want to change one to the Wisniewski save, that one is a doozy. THanks.
