His faceoff skills would have been welcomed.

The Schenn brothers are reunited.

Big win for both Toronto and Philly. Leafs get their top six winger, and Philly gets another blue liner that can actually play defence.

Burke is turning Canada's most scrutinized franchise into an all American team. Don Cherry will not be happy, lol.

Kessel, JVR, who's next?

Ryan, Suter, Parise?

I don't think they can afford him yet. And honestly, they'd be smart to stay away. Once all those defensemen come up and finish their ELCs, they'll probably be worse off than Chicago was.

Nah, it's Parise they want. Crosby and Parise go way back. It's the dream team reunited.

I have no doubt they'll make a pitch for both, but I think this recent Sabre rattling is for Mr. Parise. And they'll probably get him.

The only FAs I'm really interested in are Schultz and Parise.

I like a few others, but not as much as those two.

Sucks we have no chance at either.

Schultz might be enticed if the Stars offer him a top 4 spot. Not many teams can do that with any certainty. Sort of like how the Stars gave Brunnstrom the promise of NHL minutes thus he picked Dallas.

There are plenty of other places that can, as well.

I do think you're on to something. We need a #1 and a top 4 defender for this season. He could be in the top 4 this year and I think he's our current best bet at a #1. That, and we can offer him the max contract easily.

I still don't think he even considers us.

It is going to be impossible for holmgren to get players to sign a contract that eats UFA years now...

I think Dallas has as good a chance as any. Any team that will offer him guaranteed top 4 minutes has a pretty thin blueline. And if they have that thin a blueline, they are probably a playoff bubble or non-playoff team.

Contenders already have 4 established guys ready to roll.

Of course this is contingent on him wanting to play full NHL minutes immediately. Maybe he wouldn't mind some AHL seasoning or #6 duty. I haven't heard what's he's looking for exactly.

He wants to sign in Canada.

Canucks have no room. Edmonton sucks and isn't known for being popular with FAs. Calgary's not much different. Toronto's loaded at D, and he may not like the spotlight from the media (who knows). Montreal doesn't even seem interested, and they're set at D anyways. Ottawa is probably the most likely, but I don't really seem them pressing too hard after him. Winnipeg is probably his best option, but again, they're set at D.

Maybe I'm just dreaming some of those up, but I don't think he'll be signing in Canada.

We can offer him a top 4 spot now, the potential to be the #1 we so badly need, a max ELC, and probably as much PP time as he wants. Still don't see him signing here, but if I were him, that'd be pretty enticing.

Most signs are pointing towards that he wants to play and is ready for top 4 minutes.

Hadn't seen this discussed anywhere but the CBJ fired 4 scouts just hours after the draft including the assistant director of amateur scouting. The inability of that franchise to ever find a direction and follow it continues to amaze me.

That franchise is a complete mess. Shame because there definitely is a good enough market there. Was very impressed with what they've built up all around Nationwide.

Edit: Just saw where the Isles offered all 7 of their draft picks and they still turned it down. Unreal.

Is that a situation where they wanted to replace those guys for a while and just needed people to run this draft?
