Interesting to see Matt Taormina hit waivers.....thought he was supposed to be New Jersey's best up-and-coming d-man aside from Larsson, but then they ship him to Tampa.

Also, LOL @ Calgary waiving both of their backups.

Don't forget Chris Connor.

Opening up one helluva can of worms there, my friend.

Dare you to start a poll.

I've been flamed several times on the main board for that opinion already. Connolly is just so underrated because people only care to look at production, not actually watch the games and players. His game is pretty much gone now, but that doesn't mean he's lost his hands.

Oh I'm not going off of points man, just look at Dats in the corners, in the shootout, and his composure around the net. The only person that comes close to his talents level when stick handling is Jagr.

We may have completely different definitions of what makes a great hands though.

In terms of overall game and ability? Yea it's Datsyuk, no question. Connolly is above average at best in most every aspect outside of dangling.

I'm referring to mostly dangles and nice moves there, which is what most people mean when they say hands. Some of the things he did were just unreplicatable (I think this is a new word ) and so amazing I can't even describe it. He really was something special and it's a shame that his career got so off-track.

Don't think anyone has ever had such a quick pull from forehand to backhand, much less still being able to roof it wherever he'd like.

Two things:

That video got me pumped to watch hockey again.

This video confirms for me that virtually every hockey highlight reel absolutely must be accompanied by the most generic, unlistenable rock music.

Ted Leonsis quote...

Quote:
On reports he lost money in recent years as owner of the Capitals:

I’ve never made a penny of profit with the Washington Capitals, not [just] in recent years. Since I’ve owned the team we’ve never been profitable
Kinda shocked me a bit.

+1 for Dallas then. A bad year for attendance, yet we still made money. Can't believe they haven't been profitable.

Wonder if it has something to do with the arena deal? No idea what Washington's is, but obviously we have a great one.

IIRC, the AAC is one of the busiest arenas in NA, and doesn't Dallas own have the building? Mavs own the other half.

Yep Gaglardi bought half stake in the building. Cuban with the other half.

Yep. That's why Cuban was such a big rumor to buy the Stars, if I remember correctly, cause he would have like 75% or whatever stake in the arena.

The Caps are owned by Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Ted Leonsis is the CEO). Monumental also owns the the Wizards, Mystics (WNBA), and the Verizon Center. Depending on how the things are set up, the Verizon Center could be receiving all the proceeds from concessions, luxury box sales, parking, etc. So while the Capitals are showing a loss the Verizon Center is actually making money and Monumental Sports & Entertainment is profitable overall.

These articles do a nice job of pointing out the difficulties in determining if teams are actually losing money

Yep. Never believe any owner at face value when he says his team is losing money.

Connolly clears waivers.

Quote:
Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris

Tim Connolly will be assigned to the Toronto Marlies. Dave Nonis is not pursuing a trade option for him at this time.
FYI ... re-entry waivers has been eliminate. A team that did trade for him would be free to call him up with no risk.

Redden to St. Louis.

Quote:
Wade Redden a STL Blue. Hearing 1 year deal, $800K base salary with GP bonuses that could make it $1M total.
