Helps our 2nd this year, that's for sure.
It's a feather in Phoenix's cap as well. They don't have a whole lot so good on 'em for finally breaking that goose egg.

Really surprising stat.
the teams that will likely pick 2 and 3 in the draft, Montreal and Columbus were ranked 2nd and 3rd in powerplay opportunities this season.
We were ranked 28th
(would have been 29th if it wasnt for todays 4-5 opps)
Colorado only had 2 mins of 5 on 3 time for the season!!

I want to see Canucks/Kings and Blues/Sharks as the last 2 matchups. Canucks/Kings got pretty heated last time around and the Blues have made the Sharks look severely outclassed at points this season.

Not at all. It shows a lot of gumption and a never say die attitude.
I'd be frustrated if they rolled over in an attempt to get an easier schedule. That type of play on the ice would be ridiculous.

See, we're joking together. This is a good first step. And agreed on Morrow, I'm so sick of his routine.

Anyone else think that getting the 1st overall pick 3 years in a row should not be allowed? That much suckitude should not be rewarded. They didn't finish dead last, sure, but they weren't much better. That's pathetic.

Reminds me of when the Pens couldn't stop getting 1st overall picks. Just take a classic franchise and make sure they get a string of generational talent and boom, viable hockey market again.
ScubaSteve, your thoughts?

Wouldn't Steve say the Stars could get 10 straight 1st overall picks and they'd still suck?

Why not? The point of the draft system is to turn bad teams into less bad teams. The Oilers are clearly still bad, so why not give them another 1st overall pick. They're at a competitive disadvantage in the first place because so few want to play in Edmonton.
