Would've been nice to take a risk on him, but not at that price (3.775M).
Performance bonuses galore. That's just his cap hit.

I know, I think we'd be able to use 4M in cap space better than that.

The thread about terrible goaltenders on the main forum got me to looking around. I have literally zero recollection of CuJo in Phoenix where he apparently played 115 games over the course of TWO seasons from 2005-07. I watched a ton of games those years too, but I can't even picture him in a 'Yotes jersey.

Did I miss something?
Why is Price the 5th best goalie in the league according to HF?

My fellow-countryman has such an ridiculous opinion about Ribeiro :

In our german hockey forum he is well known for his anti-dallas-attitude.
During the regular season he said, he doesn't fear the Stars if they facing against in the first round.
I'm so glad, that the Yotes eliminated them.
In case Ribeiro is still a Stars player in 2012-2013, I hope he kick some a.. especially vs the Hawks.

I don't blame him in that thought. We would easily be the least talented teams in the 16 if we were to get in. And probably would've gotten swept as the only way we would've got in (and actually stayed in the race) was because of other teams continuing to play well well well below the standard they should've been.

No way. Phoenix is greater than the sum of its parts but the Stars are definitely more talented. An argument could be made against Florida as well, especially when you compare the goaltending position. The main thing about the Stars is that Kari is a huge question mark in the playoffs but he has proven himself to be an upper (if not the upper-est) level goaltender.

I think you would have seen our boys take it to another level and hold their own. Every team seems to do it.

If they're anything like the Stars after Zubov they'll never make the playoffs again.

Uttered every hockey fan after Yzerman retired in 2006.

Lidstrom was a huge part of the blueline, but the Wings you've seen the last 2 years are the Wings you'll get next year. Very skilled, strong positioning, not terribly fast, inconsistent scoring, and a roster that struggles in the playoffs. Chelios and Holland are already letting slip to the media that there will be a shakeup, but who knows.

As yes but the curse of Zubov took effect when the Stars didn't re-sign him, Lidstrom is retiring on his own terms so no such curse shall be in play according to article 3 paragraph 2.

Sucks to see him retire as a hockey fan, but as a Stars' fan I'm jumping for joy right now.

I can't help but feel that he realizes with him out of the picture, they have a very good chance at signing Suter. I'm not saying that's entirely why he did it, but knowing him, he realized it was better for the organization in the long run and did it for the team.

^ Just speculation, though.

I didn't see the presser, will they make him their Ambassador of Fun?

He wants to work with the organization, but there's no word as to what yet. He said he wants to move back to Sweden with his family.

He might end up being a scout over there or some kind of part-time adviser.

I was reading through this article's comments on the 10 best NHL contracts. Someone mentioned Enstrom and dubbed him as "Byfuglien's babysitter." I thought it was funny enough to share, as it seems incredibly apt in the same way that Giguere had Pronger and Niedermayer in '07, or like how the entire Kings defense is doing for Quick.

Would you mind posting the link? I'd be interested in seeing what they consider the 10 Best.

I'd assume Eriksson's was on there, along with Giroux's, no idea about any others, though.

My biggest hope with all of this Brett Hull to St. Louis talk is that his role in Dallas is either over (if he does go to St. Louis) or drastically reduced (if he doesn't go).
