Today Montreal announced Price will be out for the remaining of the season because of a ''mild'' concussion. (2 week after the event leading to the concussion?).
in the meantime, Edmonton offense seem anemic with 14, 15 and 19 shoot on goal in the last 3 game (3 goals in all, well bellow their season average).
They also had only 5 shoots of goal last night in the 3th period while being only one goal behind.
I always tell myself teams doesn't deliberately try to lose to get better odds for a lottery pick, but when seeing thing like that..it make me wonder......
let see how strong these two team will finish the season.....Would price be behind the net if they was fighting for the playoff?

It would be very rare for players to deliberately lose a game. It's more likely, at least on the Oilers part, they've just really got nothing to play for..again..It's been a long season that started with lots of promise and I'm sure they're just tired of trying....More injuries to deal with now and it just isn't worth it to 'go all out' and find yourself injured and not being able to spend time with family, etc...
The players could care less about draft position and, in general, want to play hard. Just imagine yourself in this position, especially the veterans, and you can see where there isn't really any incentive to 'give it your all', 'take one for the team', etc, when there's a couple of games left and nothing to play for.
Sure, pride--blah, blah, but in that position I can imagine how hard it would be to lay everything on the line and have no positive result.

But there are an incentive to not give it your all.
in the case of Montreal.. the decision to not play Price come from the direction..not from the player. If Price was able to play in the past 2 weeks, i guess he could be able to finish the season.
Leafs have Grabo, Lupul, Reimer and Gus out right now. But I don't think they're losing on purpose, players get shutdown at this point if they're injured. It happens.
Yes, Dr.Mulder, the world renown surgeon, is putting his reputation on the line to make sure Price doesn't play the remaining 3 games. Since you know, the Habs did so well with Price in the lineup.

I literally have NHL standings open and was thinking this exact thing

To quote Montreal fans earlier in the season: ''Without Price, Montreal would be a lottery team!''
B)I don't know about the Habs, but the Oilers are 6-4-2 in there last 12.
C)If anything, I think the teams don't take any risks with injuries. I think Hall could easily play if it was the playoffs, but why not fix a long term injury over the summer. Same for Smid and Petry.
