Rundblad and Silveberg are completely different players in terms of style of play and defensive awareness and risky plays. Also you can throw skating/speed there.
Silveberg can grind if need there be in the NHL and play on a 3rd line to start, use his size and skating, and play defensive 2 way hockey.
Rundblad can still be a star but there is no middle ground in his game. For him even to get a chance and develop in the NHL his defensive game as a Dman needs to be a lot better than it is right now.
I think it might be harder for defensemen to adapt to the smaller ice surface. There is less time to make decisions, and the nature of the position leaves the player more exposed when he makes a mistake.
A guy like RUndblad likes to coral the puck behind his net, carry it up the ice and analyze the play. In the NHL he loses that extra time, and is forced to make decisions before he is ready.
Hard to compare the two players, but i think forwards may have an easier time with the transition between the two games.
I do in a thread where Rundblad is mentioned... after last summers absurd overrating about he was going to be better than Karlsson, then Turris is going to be a 70 point center and now Silfverberg is going to be the next Alfie.
Until they're traded, then they're crap.
Couldn't we just be remotely reasonable here and hope that Silfverberg falls somewhere around the Michalek-Foligno range?
Bang on. I've never seen such a quick turn around in opinions when rundblad was traded.
Anywho @ those who are already claiming him to be the next alfie or some great first liner. How about we all wait till hes in the nhl before making ridiculous claims...

That being said, I think it's a bit easier for a forward to adapt then it is for a defenseman. Rundblad also appeared like he wasn't willing to change his game at all. It's still early though, maybe enough time the AHL will effect him.
I have a better feeling about Silfverberg. Not sure why.
Silverbergs lack of physical play might be why he wont fit with Spezza while Zibby might fit better.
Spezz seems to do well with two big wingers who will go to the corners
Just because Silfverberg doesn't have a physical edge doesn't mean he can't handle it against him and that he won't go into the corners, lol. Silfverberg is a beast when it comes to play along the boards and viewing the ice from the corner area.

True, and I do like what I'm hearing about him, but I think some people should chill out with their predictions.
Really? Turris came here very well prepared for the NHL so I don't know where that idea comes from. Just because he didn't get the playing time he wanted that doesn't mean Phoenix is clueless about developing forwards
I meant they don't tend to get a lot out of their forward prospects. Look at guys like Boedker and Turris who's offensive potential's all but died by going to Phoenix.
They've developed Dmen like Yandle, OEL, Summers, Stone, etc very well thus far. Far better then the Boedkers, Turris', Muellers (who didn't look great til going to Colorado) et al.
It is all about the ROLE you play in. You don't really lose physicality if you had it in you before.
If you are the team's 3rd liner, you have to play that way to be in the line-up. But if you are dangling and scoring like he has this year you don't tend to play that way. And he was not a Zbad physical to begin with. His is/was battle oriented around the corners not taking run at guys and finishing every single check hard like say Zbad.
the two teams I dislike the most in Sweden in the finals.. funny. Brynäs will win aslong as Silfvberg and Järnkrok keep playing like they have this whole season.

OT question, but why do you dislike Saik and Brynäs? They both play the game with lots of skill and speed. Both are also very good at letting rookies/juniors get time on the ice.

I agree, even though my team was kicked out by SAIK earlier (i'm a MoDo fan), i have no problem rooting for them now.
I would actually prefer he be on Spezzas line. Foligno is doing well with Alfy and Turris. He just needs to learn from Neil how to be infront of the net without interfering with the goalie.
Silfverberg/Spezza/Michalek
Foligno/Turris/Alfy
Greening/Smith/Neil (Putting Greening here adds a little more skill plus he brings grit that would compliment the other two.

Somebody needs to give Foligno the "Ryan Smyth's greatest plays" dvd and make him watch it a billion times.
Thats how I wish his game would evolve.
