I know it's not BJ related, but it's AL East related, the next best thing.

Wow, that deal is looking like a brilliant move by the Mariners. They sold high on a pitcher that might never be the same again.

BTW, is that the same thing McGowan had?

McGowan had fraying in his labrum for the first year he missed, and a torn rotator cuff that accounted for the second year.

Mike Sirotka had a turn labrum.

And now in the same day we've had mention of Josh Phelps and Mike Sirotka. Crazy.

Deck McGuire getting rocked again today. 7 ER on 9 H and 1BB with only 2 K over 3 IP.

Wonder what's going on with him?

Was never that great, he had projectability due to his large frame that hasn't quite been fulfilled. It looks like being a #4-5 starter is his upside.

I thought that's what he was projected as to begin with? A guy with a good chance to move up through the org quickly and be a mid/late rotation innings eater, but nothing special.

I think they were hoping he would add some mph on his fastball and become an innings eater #3-4 guy.

I thought so too. But by the looks of things, he's pitching just plain bad right now. 8+ ERA. Gah.

So is baltimore good or what? That lineup has a ton of upside, a real breakout from Wieters and an Ellsbury like season from Jones...? Scary.

And Strop's stuff is just ridiculous.

No one said he wouldn't this year. God move on we didn't sign him.

Pujols looking like he's 43 not 33. Knowing him, he could be 53.

The Jays batting lineup has a left a lot to be desired.

Not that I'm overly concerned at the moment, as it is still very early, but I think Alex needs to address the corner outfield position. I'm not comfortable with Thames or Davis, nor would I be comfortable with Snider (who I'm not very high on personally). Most of you say a power hitting 1B is our main need, but it is actually a good LF.

His upside was as a #3 innings-eater type. Just proves to show that there is no such thing as "safe" in the MLB draft. You take the most talented player; and you never discount talent to draft a "more safe" player.
