I mean, they aren't winning 4-0 or 5-0. We scored 1 goal tonight.
Yeah, but they scored that goal in a way that would not have happened even a month ago. They're sticking around now. They suddenly care enough to keep trying.

Seriously,
It's not that we as a team are suddenly playing great, we're playing better sure, but its that the teams that are playing us don't care at all.
The sun will come out, tomorrow, tomorrow... It's only a summer aaawaaay!
this year has killed any hope i have for this franchise. People expect Granlund to come here and tear it up, and i highly doubt he will. He'll make a good pass, and the guy will miss the net. We don't have the talent to let our talented guys be effective.
#4 would be awesome, but #6 is the worst thing in the world... I don't see it.
It's the sky is falling mentality. First comes... every loss is the end of the world. Then when it's clear the team isn't in the playoffs, every win is the end of the world.

It's a good thing we have more prospects than Granlund then.
Also if this year really 'killed any hope' you have for this franchise enjoy your way out, we are already at our max quota of SoH's.

Ok? There are 29 other teams to follow. Feel free.
So, hypothetically.. We end up at 5th. We can win the lottery and still get the #1 overall. Correct? You jump up 3 or 4 with winning the lotto?
4 spots, but the odds really fall off quickly after the #3 pick, so I had stopped even considering a lottery win as a realistic possibility a couple days ago.
And 5th is possible, but we need the Islanders to win their last game and the leafs to pick up at least one in their last game.
Tonight everything was in place to hand us the #4 pick on a silver platter. Highly doubt things line up even half as nice on Saturday. My guess is we pick 6-9, and most likely 8.

But you're completely forgetting that every team still have a game (or 2) to play. Things could swing either way if we lost today and won Saturday and the other teams lost Saturday (or any other day they play). Some things you just can't control man.

We've got the forwards to surround Granlund with talent, it's just that we're missing that other elite forward to go with him. We have very few first line bonafide forwards, but a lot of second line/third line tweeners.
How can you not count Larsson, Phillips, Coyle, Zucker, and Bulmer as talented?

After tonight every team except the Coyotes and Blues will have played exactly 81, and the Coyotes face the Blues as the only game on Friday.
So not only are we on fire going into our last game of the season, we're getting a team on the 2nd night of a back to back.
I seem to recall we usually do poorly against teams on the second night of a back-2-back.
I'm just as happy with a win and a am with a loss. There's no need to fret over things you cannot control. Just roll with whatever happens.
I wish I could have that attitude, but the Wild have just been teasing us like this for years. Not even considering how historic this years collapse has been, this end of the year tease when it means nothing is just something that has infuriated me every time it happens.
