No, i'll watch the wild, but I'm done giving them the benefit of the doubt, or expecting them to compete. Guess it just goes with being a MN sports fan.

Honestly, I think if that was the case they would have come to a deal by now.

Parents both won "Becoming Wild" DVD's tonight. So something went right.

True, but there's a lot of expiring contracts that get re-upped in the time after the playoffs and before the draft. The UFA pool looks to be good this year, but give it until the end of June a lot of those stars will re-up with their own team.

Your cynicism for the future of the franchise is completely unfounded.

If you had seen where this team has come since DR was run out of town... I can't see how you think this is even close to the darkest hour. This is the light just before the dawn right now! The future of this team is getting brighter all the time!

The biggest stars tend to re-up prior to the playoffs, not after. They get this close to being a ufa, it's all but guaranteed they will reach ufa.

I think next year is a make or break year for the franchise as a whole. If things dont go well and certain prospects dont look like they even have a remote chance of living up to their hype, I think were in for several more years of apathy.

That's worst case scenario of course. But with this franchise...

You don't understand, no team has ever recovered from picking 7th instead of 3rd! This management has shown no signs that would point to a brighter future! Clearly if we would've gotten that player with the 3rd pick that would have completely revolutionized our franchise and beckoned in a brighter future, without the player we are destined to toil in mediocrity because of the MN sports fans' learned helplessness.

God i hope isn't necessary.

And if humans were completely rational beings there would be no war, no poverty, and money would not be the deciding factor in everything.

It just isnt gonna happen.

I endorse this statement. Didn't somebody just say this was one of the most injured teams in the NHL on record this season? Our season was destroyed by injuries, and for the first time since I've been following the Wild. Fletch has solved the following problems.

-Found actual first line wingers for Koivu.
-Re-developed our prospect pool to the best it's been in years.
-Re-vamped our offense to better to true Top 6 forwards.
-Re-vamped our defense to a PMD one.
Everything is clicking right now except for the ****ing injuries.

I'd say a minimum of 5 cups at this point. We could've been a dynasty.

I thibnk only 2 of our prospects will actually be with the Wild next year (my guess is Granlund and Larsson), so there is still plenty of development time to go. I don't think it's AS make or break as you think.

Not to mention all the money that St. Paul businesses would have made from those 5 amazing Cup runs. Now the city runs the risk of being eaten up by Minneapolis.

Damn you, Wild!!!

I could also see Zucker and Brodin up in the pros as well. I think Cuma played pretty well tonight, in the limited action that I saw.

Granlund's pretty much a lock, but yeah everyone else is destined for the AHL or back to Europe. Unless they incredibly outplay the guys with guaranteed contracts. We have our entire top 9 locked up next year.

Cuma doesn't count in the list everyone is ******* about. Also, in the pros... sure, they will be pros, but most will be in Houston. Not a bad thing though as that's higher caliber talent waiting to be called up in case of injury.

I think Brodin is probably a lock as well, unless we manage to get Suter, in which case its less of a lock but still a pretty good chance.

I think at least one of Coyle, Zucker or Larsson will make the team out of camp as well.

^Pretty much, next year if a top 6 goes down with injury, we have depth now which can play in the top 6 instead of replacing scorers with grinders.

Cuma was more of a side note.

When I said pros, I meant the majors not the minors. With that said I would expect Phillips, Coyle, and Zucker in the minors.
